ok guys need some help please

I insalled my 16" burly bars today on my 2012 48 and now i have it all back togeather the fuel tank low fuel light is on the speedo 

turns off on start up but 10 meters down thr road it comes back on and stays???? help

 

i also had a hell of a time with the stupid wiring extenshions so i got rid of tem ans made my own also got rid of the harley wiring plugs as they just kept pushing thr pins back out and put on some different cheep plugs on

proper plugs but not the best because it was all i could get on short notice i would like to get somthing better so if any one knows of some good plugs to buy ??? let me know

anyway now i think i have a wiring short as the r/h blinker turns it self on and off when ever it feels like so i am going to have to look at that as well

buit the fuel light has me puzzled as all i did for that was disconect it and plug it back in ???

it rides fine just the light on so i am lost and help would be good please

but i only touched the wiring at the hand controls
all i did with the tank is unplug it and move it over to the bench and i rechecked the wiring at the tank all looks good

I wonder if the sensor got dislodged in the tank? What a hell of a job bro...

it was a nightmare
and i learnt how hard it can be to fined tools after you have thrown them in a fit of rage

  live and learn another way of how not to do it

i also got some new better connectors coming from ebay
strip it down and start again 

the wire that runs your speedo is a 5 volt set up and doesnt like being re-routed and it will play up with a coil relocation as it is prone to interference and almost impossible to detect even with a breakout box. If you have done any of those things return it to stock and your problem is solved. Other than that you have to backtrack as you already know and see if any issues, from mempry the speedo wire is a yellow one that runs along the rhs top tube, the other thing is the speedo sensor can pick up tiny metal filings and give an intermittent single which requires removal and clean the shit off the magnet................there are some things you can check anyway hope it helps

ok that give's me something to look at as i have not touched the speedo or done a coil and key relocation but one of the wires that go to the hand control is a big yellow wire and i think it doubles back from up th front of the bike and i also did 1/2 a wire turn and cable tied the wiring up across the back bone i may get rid of cable ties and see how it goes.

might be your problem as it doesnt like being touched

Ok i got all my bits will be striping it all and redoing all the wiring tomorrow fingers crossed
