Okay guys I need some adivce on a couple of questions. 1. When I had my shovel & I did an oil change, I simply fill the tank to the right level, disconected the oil tank intake return hose, fire up the motor & let the old oil run into a coke bottle or simular until it ran clean turn the engine off, then I would reconnect the return line back into the oil tank, top it up & away I go with fresh oil through out the engine. On the Heritage, is a little bit more complicated than that as the return line is chromed steel with no flexability. I was thinking of getting another fiting for the oil punp with a flexable rubber hose and use that to siffen off the old oil then just reconnect the factory line when finished. What do you guys think?

    2. I am thinking of using Penrite Desiel oil C4 20/60 for summer, which is recomended  in the HD manuel for temputures above 80F. Again what do you guys think?

    G'day Erny,

Without the puck you either will run new oil through an old oil filter, or old oil through a new filter. Either way, it's not the best outcome.

Say you swap your filter first, then it's going to get flooded with old shitty oil. But if you put new oil in first and then change the filter, your new oil is going to get pushed through an old filter.

So either way it's shit. Does that make sense?

Cheers Mongrel for your input. What I intend to do is buy two new filters, use one to flush the oil, then put the new filter on when finished. I don't know about you guys, but I am changing my oil every 4 thousand Klm instead of the Factory recommended 8 thousand Klm, (Especially during summer) so there for, the oil is still pretty clean when I change it. I will clean the new used filter, & put it away for use in my next oil change.
