Any advice in re to running in a new shovel top end, any tips or advice as there is conflicting advice around in re to this, Thanks.
Yep,listen to Dave, always good advice when it comes to shovelheads, loud shirts and music not so good
If its just a top end as in taking the heads off for a refurb, bolt her up, run a it for a hundred k's or so and retighten the heads and she will be sweet as a nut. No biggie.
For a rebore/rings etc - see above,
Cheers
Philthy
Thanks heaps gents, looking forward to my shovel being tip top.
don't thro too much heat @ her @ 1st , if you let it idle for more than a 1 min put a fan on her esp around the head's, after 1st run tighten barrels .heads . rockers etc & check tappets when cold before riding again , do this a few time's in the 1st 500 klms no big trips just small stuff let it cool down inbetween change the oil in the 1 st 200 klms , use 50/70 W
