Just finished installing fl running boards and brackets to my custom softail, Procedure required removal of jiffy stand as required to install in fl brackets.

The jiffy stand bronze bushes were worn away. Theres two and only a little bit of the top bush was left, The clevis pin, (shaft through jiffy stand) had about 1 1/2 mm worn off it and wear on the bracket as the clevis pin was rubbing directly on bracket.

Ive allways sprayed some lube into shaft. Bike is 4 and a bit years old and the bushes probably wore away  a year or more ago meaning they dont last stuff all.

Might pay to check yours every year, and when on bike lift, pull jiffy stand off to check pin and bushes. (Its easy to do) The bushes and pin are less than 20 bucks.

    cheers

dont put spray on it, it collects abrasive stuff
if you have to lube it, try graphite
