Concerns about new pipes

So I have my street bob going in next friday to have forward controls fitted, so I told my HD guy to order in some black side shots and fit them at the same time. Now I am concerned... I currently have V&H slip ons fitted and he said to me that the side shots won't be any louder. At the time I took his word for it but now I'm thinkng to myself.... "bullshit". Does anyone have side shots on their bike, whether a street bob or not, how loud are they? and do you get hassled by the cops alot? any other info on the V&H pipes that you might have wished you knew before getting them would be really appreciated too.

    Cheers

Bro, where do you live and are you in the habit of riding like an arse?

Yes, the pipes are loud, but unless you live in a highly policed EPA state like Vic, or you tear around like Casey Stoner after he's just copped a smacking from his missus you have a good chance of being left alone.

I have short shots on my Sporty and I ride every day to work and back, from Kwinana to Ozzy Parke. Nearly every day I pass the bike plod on the freeway and so far I haven't even been looked at, followed or hassled in any way. I don't ride like a deadshit and I don't speed. I reckon I have been saved about once a week by the dickhead Jappo's splitting lanes at 100kph weaving in and out. I see them pulled over all the time but so far I have been lucky... (touch wood)...

They are loud dude, but, that's why you are buying them right???

The other side of the coin mate is that I leave my house about 6:15 every morning on my bike. I start the bastard, and ride out the driveway immediately. I warm up the bike on the way out of my suburb riding nicely and not loudly. I asked my neighbour a few days ago if I was bothering them when I left for work and he said that its not that loud. I know it is and maybe he is being nice (he's a good bloke) but the point again is that I ride away as quietly as I can and nobody has bitched to me yet...

They are a loud set of pipes. No doubt about that.

Whatever you do, keep your original pipes. Dont.... ever..... let them go.

You just never know when you'll need them to pass a roadworthy or clear a canary.

anything that points to the ground is usually load as sound bounces off the road, sideshots, big radius etc

Yep. The trick is to manage the Loud Grip a bit when going past Captain Plod.

I hear what ya saying Ryno. I have V&H big radius . Have only been warned to put the baffles back in at an RBT a while back but I am riding to Phillip Island this Ostober to watch Stoners last race here and am a trifle concerned that Mr Plod will have stationary road side testing in regards to exhaust decibel levels and am thinking of installing these ...http://www.smartpartz.com/ not sure how much difference it will make but I spose it cant hurt any
