It's a funny feeling, a bit scary at the first crank, but then a huge buzz when it starts and runs well !
Hope to crank my new motor this w/end.

Thanks HOGBAG - I am pretty chuffed at the outcome so far! A good tune and I will be grinnin!! :)

RYNO - I am no bike mechanic! I am IT geek! LOL!!!

No - I never felt I was in over my head. I have pulled my bikes apart for years. Most of them trail bikes etc, but the principles are all the same.

I guess the best bit of advice I could give you is... take your time, and research!! Ask plenty of questions on here, as there are heaps of guys that will be more than happy to assist with any questions you have, myself included. :)

It's also a good buzz to know you did it yourself - PLUS, if you have the time to make sure things are done as they should be.

Eg: I sat down with a wire brush and took the old loctite out of every thread that I could. I don't know if a commercial workshop would have wasted that hour or so. ;)

Well done always good if you can do it yourself. A dyno will make a massive difference as well to increase your smile. Enjoy it.

Thanks man! It was actually an easy task. I thought there would be more "trickyness" involved - but it was piece of piss in the end. :)

I have the SE Tapered Push Rods in my 120r I did remove the standard nut and replace with a grade 8 nut, no loctite and my opinion is these are a quality bit of kit

Mongrel used the original Lifters and S&S P rods

    Hi Lads,

I used the SnS Quickees for a couple or reasons, but mainly because I didn't want to pull the tank and covers. I am glad I did in the end because the bearings that came with the Andrews kit were NOT Torrington. So, I still have my stock bearings. Next winter I will probably go back into the cam chest and swap out the bearings. Thankfully I have used the adjustable rods, so I can now just collapse the push rods, and open her up. If I had of used solid rods, the top end would have to come off again!! :(

No Loctite on the locknuts either, but thinking about it, the next time I go in, I might drop a bit on them.

I got everything from MnM and the SnS kit comes with all the covers and O-Rings you need. The Andrews install kit came with the Gasket etc. HOWEVER - it DID NOT come with O-rings for the Oil Pump etc. So go to your HD dealer and get the Oil Pump O-Rings - There are 3. 2 small identical and 1 larger one.

DONT use your stock ones. The video from JP shows him only replacing the larger one, but I didn't want to risk it, even with only 6000k on the bike. For the lousy $5 it's just not worth the risk of having to do things twice. :(

Yep - That guide is good. The dude on the JP Cycles video only turned his 20 flats - which is what I followed, and the top end is a bit noisy. I plan on going back in and pushing them out 4 more flats to try and reduce the noise a bit.
