So I just got back from a ride after re-mapping the Fat with a canned map. I used CAA176-03. Which it states is for 96ci plus air, pipes and 255 cams. Not the same cam as mine, but as close as I could get and it's a completely different animal!

It SCREAMS!! 3rd gear pulls better than a Kings Cross hooker. I can smell that it's not running as rich as the map Ando gave me, and it feels much more responsive. It doesn't pop on decel either. Just a slight gurgling, which sounds great. :)

I will try and get some time to V-Tune in the next few weeks, but for now, I am happy as a pig in shit!

Only one thing I need to check.... I notice while it was idling after the ride that I could see a Push Rod Tube was sort of pulsing. When I put my finger on it, I could feel the Push Rod rubbing the tube, so I don't think it's sitting true. Will pop it off and have look when it cools.

    Other than that... HAPPY!!!

I hope the push rod is sitting in the lifter and rocker arm. Double check that. The rocker gear has a fair bit of movement so you may need to loosen the 6 bolts  to move it over to miss the pushrod tubes. The inside top of the tubes is where they normally rub and can be opened up a few thou with a dremal.

Yeah man, I pulled the covers and they all seem seated properly. I had to extend them by 4 flats, and checked them.

There is a bit of give in the push rod covers and and the rods are pretty thick, so it doesn't take much.

Try it - next time your bike is idling, push gently on the tube and you will feel it. LOL!! :)

JFYI The little screen filter is for the balancer tensioner feed so is only in the "B" (Softail) engines .

    Mongrel hows that Fatty Going?

I have a mates Fatboy Low 96ci and I am gonna put the 57h,s into it. I will have a 1.9 intake valve put into his heads, have them decked to 82cc and fit the .030" head gasket.
it already has a D&D Fatcat 2:1, and a high flow air cleaner and a TTS. I reckon this thing will rip and be a bit of a sleeper

if ya get some Vtuning done on your sled keep me informed as if ya don.t mind it might give me a good base map to start with

    Ando,

The bike goes like a skinned cat!! Fuck it has some go! Cruising along in 5th at 100 and come up behind a cage... a twist and wave bye bye!!

The 57h cam has done everything I wanted it to do. If you remember I wanted to lump up the idle and get some torque around 3000-4000rpm. Well, I got all of that.

The idle is sweet. You would not think it's the same bike. Even Mrs Mongrel came out the day after the cams in and her words... "NOW it sounds like a Harley" :) HAPPY!

The pull in 3000 to 4000 is fantastic. I have not had it above 4500 yet, but rarely ride up there anyway.

Before the cams went in, I would drop the bike into 6th when cruising at 100. Can't really do that now, I need to be up near 115 or it's just too low. This is probably more a problem because it still needs a V-Tune, as I think it's running a little rich.

I did a roll off test the other night, but have not been out to pull the plugs and check the colour - Will try and get 5 minutes to do that today.

The volume has gone up slightly and is sitting at about 108db at 2500. EEK!! ;)

So all in all man, I am happy as!

    Hey Ando...

Checked the plugs after the roll off test and a nice shade of browny grey! So far so good.

Did another 100km on her yesterday, and I think it's getting better! LOL!!

One thing to keep on mind - going slow in traffic is a right bitch. AHAHAHA!!!

     Thans Ando,

Interesting how they chose a different base map.  Hmm!!

Also... see... this is where it does my head in.

I'd start with the EPQ176-03 MAP. The biggest issue as I see it, is matching up the ignition timing with the motors needs. Everything else gets changed while v-tuning anyway. The cam adjustment you just use the cam selector tool, use the estimator to get you started. Then before doing any v-tuning use the record cam data function to get the intake closing data log, to get that squared away. Also set all of your pertinent values in the tuning constants section.

    ARRRGGH!!!!
