    Hi guys
Can anyone recommend insurance providers in Victoria to insure my grey imports rocker?
Swan whom i used previously wouldn't insure grey imports, and AAMI online quote generated $2,600 , which is unacceptable.

I imported my Rocker c myself. Found it in LA, negotiated a deal, arranged shipping, got it complied to Australian standard at RAWS workshop. In the end the total cost was 5-7K cheaper than buying at Harley Heaven an identical bike.
They are all the same bike, come from the same factory.
Things to look out for in the usa- make sure it has a clear title (these titles don't mean shit in Oz, but required to be sighted by US Customs), try to have original parts in the box as you will need them for complaincing. And change brand new tyres and speedo in the USA, it's cheaper parts and definitely cheap labour.
These guys shipped it for me, they can also comply it for you. They did a great job, happy to recommend them http://www.ameroz.com.au/

There are soooo many used imported Harleys in Australia now that the market has been depressed to such a level I think you would really have to be wanting a special / one-off or limited production bike to bring one over yourself.

Negociate on one that's already here ( import OR Aussie from new !) , and if they won't budge then move quickly to another.

As a prime example , I was looking for a year at importing a used CVO Springer myself. I looked at every bike that arrived in Perth over that year and NONE were clean enough for me !

Last December I snagged a REAL clean one owner ex-Texas bike with 6,300 miles ( 10,000 K's ) which had come in a biggish batch brought by a Yankee car importer here in Perth. All of their bikes , Fatboys , Rockers and Nightrains were ex-Texas and very clean examples
I saw it before compliancing was done , so I saw the bike " in the Raw " so to speak. I actually did some of the "work" required for compliancing myself, but that's another story

I can say quite convincingly that I could not have imported and landed the bike registered in my name in Perth for the money I paid at the time.

Just last night there were 21 CVO Springers for sale on Bikesales.com alone , plus bikes on Gumtree and eBay.

SO THERE ARE DEALS TO BE HAD FOR THE PERSISTENT !!

That's why I could never justify buying at Peter Stevens.
