ive got easy starts. Very happy with the cam. I stuck with the 551, the 583 needs higher compression etc

I got the S&S 585 gear driven cams. Seem pretty good from about 2500-3000rpm onwards, just keeps pulling, but to answer your questions hmmm I have never fitted them, travel limiters? and I have no starting issues.

Travel limits are to prevent valve float at high RPM, they have the benift of being a normal hydralic lifter but at higher RPMS they will hit the travel limiter and become solid

Yeah mate, same cams in a better engine, sounds a bit better, especially at idle.

Bloke who built my engine says billet oil pump is much better and if I had the extra scratch I would have installed one no probs. Apparently they run a bit cooler and you can buy parts for them instead of replacing the whole pump if it fucks up.
