Hi

Just about to buy a set of SE Slipons in chrome for my 2012 883 Iron. Need confirmation if mixture calibration needs to be performed by adding these for such a basic small modification purely for sound? I have been given conflicting information as to wether I need to buy a race tuner or Fuelpak. Air cleaner is stock, just want to ensure that I will not do any engine damage.

All you can do is try the mufflers and see how it runs. If you get a lot of popping on deceleration your probably running lean but I doubt that's going to happen with street legal SE mufflers. I personally would buy a set of Supertrapp or S&S pipes , K&N hi flow air cleaner, TTS tuner for the extra 10 HP and a cooler running engine.

Xieds for just slip ons

Thanks for the advice, have done some research on XIED which has positive reviews, so much so I have just ordered a set. Will update when I have them all fitted.

I have to admit that my understanding was that the O2 sensor was in place to alert the ECU of AFR change for which to compensate ignition/fuelling. Was struggling to see why so much money needed to be spent on tuners for basic mods such as I have described. That is my novice perception anyhow.
