Mate wants to put pillion pegs on. He has a set of peg mounts that go in the hole on the swingarm? Has a knurled nut that pushes in to the hole. Is this a special tool job or can we belt them in with a hammer? Is there a better way, drill hole through on the swingarm? Any advice welcome. Cheers burnzi.

This is the slug with the splines that goes in the hole on the swingarm.

Hmmm, looks like the swingarm has had these pushed in before and taken out again, now the holes are too big, back to the drawing board.

You need a special tool for those slugs . It like a rivet gun . Screws in to slug then compresses it like a rivet .

The holes are already too big, it appears someone has removed the original slugs and made a fair mess of it. The new slugs fall into the hole. Contemplating cutting a UNF thread into the hole and inserting a thread with the right size thread in the centre of the bolt to take the bolt in the post mounts.

Alternative is getting the holes welded up and redrilled to the correct size, may be just as easy to weld a nut in the hole.

This is UNC, outer thread would need to be UNF as the wall diameter in the swingarm isnt very thick?

It's a nut-sert & not strong enough to hold somebodys weight.I would weld in a threaded boss or a nut
