Thought I would change the bars to something I can reach and have a more cruisey feel.
Decided fatboy bars on the fatboy risers would be the go and fitted them up. All good nice position feel great for reach and to me they look good as well. Form and function together for a change, nice one.
Ok so fit the switch gear and all goes well, Throttle fits up so cables seem right with out testing the turning ability.
Now here's the bitch part.
Must change clutch cable, no biggy except looks like the V&H has to come off to get at the cover. OK simple enough just takes time and new gaskets. Not sure if I will loose part of the oil or not, have to look into that aspect.
Brake line is way to short, almost impossible to get the master cylinder on. It does go on but it's at full stretch.
Since it's a 2012 with ABS things are a bit different apparently. To change the upper line you have to buy a complete kit with lowers and the distribution block. The stock unit has the upper and lowers swage fitted to the block so you can't get them apart. The replacement part has the lowers swage fitted but the upper is a threaded connection so you can change it at any time in the future. Also the system has to be bleed back through the ABS system pump/control unit. Some may take that on them selves but I don't think I will.
The throttle cables seem to be ok but I will need to check them also.
So for any one intending to change to bars with much more pullback or rise it would be well worth your while to check it all out before you begin. The cost of the brake lines alone makes me wonder why I bother fucking around with it at all let alone what the cost of fitting and bleeding will be.

That's what the dealer told me when I was looking at various risers. I thought it was just bullshit trying to extort more money from me. I still can;t see why it would be any different to just add a longer set of lines. In the end the risers I had just worked without any line changes.....looks like they might have been telling me the truth, glad I dodged that money pit bullet.
Post soem pics of the bars when you get them set up, sounds good.

Yea I thought it was crap to. You could get a brake specialist to remove the top line and thread the block to take a new upper line. The risk would be any crap not getting cleaned out. Still not sure about the bleeding with the ABS might have a read up on it.
Any way be a couple of weeks to get the parts and fit it up.
