FOB/ALARM

I picked up a 2010 Wide Glide a few days ago at the right price that was imported over here by a fella I know...It came with a Fob but there is no alarm and no flashing light...The fella I bought it off is a BMW man and has no idea about Harleys so he knows nothing about it...I have looked on the internet about how to turn it on but it doesn't work...Apparently they turn them off for transport but reading up in the states it is optional..If it wasn't fitted why would it have a fob???Is there any physical way to see if there is an alarm on the bike???

As you said they don't come with an alarm as standard in the states,it most likely has an imobiliser though.
Do the blinkers flash when you turn it off,and can you start it without the fob close by.

Yeah fella's...It starts with the key and doesn't need the fob nearby...It just seems strange that it came with a fob if it doesn't have an alarm or imobiliser on it, that's why I was hoping that there is somewhere to look or see phisically if it has one...

Hmm.. So you are saying you can keep the FOB in the house and start the bike?

Maybe the fob was included by someone who doesn't have a clue. Or a ploy to help sell it thinking it had more features over there.  I dunno.

No flashing LED in the speedo indicates that the alarm option isn't fitted.

Disconect the battery, you'll soon find out if it has the alarm fitted.

2010 FXDWG, the alarm module is fitted in the center of the frame, under the seat, under the top cross brace, in front of the rear guard.

edit;   and I spose the other thing to do is crack the fob open and see if it has a battery fitted,,, or even has a gutz.

Don't the wide glides have an alarm box...like under the bike. Black box with like a speaker hole? I don't own one so I have NFI.
If so, maybe the battery in the box (rechargeable) is completely dead or someone has disconnected the thing.

Is it possible the Alarm has been put in transport mode for transport?

     Hi

In transport mode the immobilizer is still active, just no chirping

Do you have red key flash on speedo at all?

Probably have to pull seat off

    Thanks

Just a thought. Maybe the system won't let you reactivate if the fob battery is dead.

     Another clue,

"Turn IGN key to IGNITION and immediately hold BOTH turn switches in until 5 dashes appear in odometer window"

this opens up the Personal Identification Number function for the H-D Smart Security System ,,, if this don't happen, again, the smart security system prolly ain't fitted.

if it does open up, it will  require a set of five numbers, then you're prolly up shit creek unless you know the numbers.

The security system is normally in an enclosed plastic case low down, but in front of the rear wheel. It has a series of small holes facing forward, that resemble a simple speaker grill, for the sound to come whaling out of it. Roughly the size of a packet of smokes

Thanks for the reply's...I emailed the dealer in the states that sold my mate the bike and it has no imobiliser or alarm(optional over there)...It only has a tsm which is a plug in that I can change to a tssm, (Turn Signal Security Module)..I can order one online and it comes with 2 fob's and there is also the alarm part that plugs in if I want an alarm..All up around $500.00 so I don't think I will bother unless I can get one off a wreck...I revieved my workshop manual through the week and it is full of information....
