I think a few people missed the point of my post (may be due to me assuming everyone thinks like me) what i meant is will it be a government regulated safety item (colour and glow and etc etc test like window tint) or will it just be normal clothes and they have to have a certain level of visiablness (what ever that is). if its goverment mandated clothes I couldn't  see how the fuck this will every go through since when do we mandate clothes? fuck i have seen blokes riding in demin shorts, single and flip flops (now thats just plain stupid) but i see it all the time? how would that work. also how would it work out here in the isa where its so fucking hot I would think we will that a number of cases of people overheating and passing out on their rides (this would seem more of an issue to me).
Also if its a standard for the clothes which supplier is going to do the required tests to comply with this? If its just a vest then well i am not sure again if there would be grounds for this sort of invasion of personal life. Just my 3 cents.

id say it would be like the helmets where u would have to use one with an Australian standards tag on it. but im only guessing wont know for sure until they pass it, lets just hope it doesn't get approved

     Ill add this,

For me, its not about clothing, its about a highway traffic cop trying to get his opinion turned into law, The hiviz jacket will be considered as part of the motorcycles safety package, Like having roadworthy brakes, roadworthy tyres, reflectors, ect.

I would like that highway cop to answer this, Statistics ??

How many bikers where hit cause of there clothing colour?? or was it, really, that people are in such a hurry to get from a to b in our cities because all governments and town planners have failed miserably in providing a decent road system instead of the congested shit that causes frustration and anger. re: road rage.

Consider all the single vechial acidents particularly, in the country or on long trips where a person has run off the road and killed himeself and his/her passengers on a bright day, in good traffic conditions.

Ill tell you why, Its cruise control, Makes for sleepier people and allows less concentration when driving, You may laugh, and think what a load of crap, But i notice they never release statistics on single vechial accidents where cruise control is on. And they wont. Cause that would be an attack on car manufactures.

The amount of times i see young mainly p plate girls texting on there phone on the steering wheel beggars beleif,

In Southport, on the gold coast highway, ive nearlly being hit in the right rear side only to turn head and see a fucken p plater girl texting on her phone on the steering whweel. This occured on a number of occasions. It took every ounce of my temper control not to follow her to the next traffic lights and jump on her bonnet.

So if new laws are passed, how about using statistics, not something hidden under the guise of safety when we all know its about more ways to fine us. Safety, my arse.

There are numerous things they could do that actually improve road safety but they wont cause that costs revenue, not creates it.

Well said Mick. Here is one, why don't they change the law to allow all motorcycles without pillions to use the Transit lane, that is usually low in traffic?

Hey Guys, it has just occurred to me that this topic is getting way out of hand, if the above notice is any indication. For a start, just who is this fucking Sargent Gore (NOBODY), telling a shitty little local newspaper (The Wangaratta Times) that Hi Vis will be Law in 18mnths? This is what is on the Wangarata web site concerning thier profile: Content: Average (1 votes) Political Bias: No Bias (1 votes) Credibility: Moderate (1 votes) .... Not exactly The Age Newspaper! Arn't some of you guys smelling a dirty fucking rat? There is no evidence that I am aware of, that this so called Hi Vis Law is on the Law makers table! Who in the fuck is this fucking 'poofter' Gore anyway, especially in the larger scheme of things? We should be very careful about public protests etc on this matter, as we could be starting a fire where before there was none! (Just as Gore intended) Just my thoughts guys! I hope it's just paranoia.

PS. It would be real usefull if some of you Computer savvy nerds could do some real reaserch on this Srgt Gore & the rest of the Hi Vis bullshit to see what you guys can come up with, before the above protest turnes it into major headline news! It is a wise move to know thy enamy!

I'm walking proof that hi viz clothing doesn't allow motorists to see you. I was hit by a ute who claimed to "not see me". I had my hi viz work shirt on. This things so bright it burns holes in you're eye balls. If anything they need to make it a law that your bikes exhaust is loudenough that the iPod wearing dickheads and lebbos with their "fully siq subwoofa" can hear you coming.

Honestly though, at the end of the day. The only way to provent motorcyclists being hit is to make it harder to get a car licence/require better training like a defensive driving course as part of getting your licence, do refresher tests for car licence holders every 2-5 years (to keep everyone up to date with their driving skills, can't pass? Can't drive!)

I'm only 20 so ive only been driving for 4 years and I honestly can't believe some of the idiots on the road.

Hey Rodders thanks for that, & you should be taking nerd as a compliment, as they are now ruling the world. If my Heritage electronics fuck up it will be a nerd that will fix it., making him my new best friend!  As a matter of fact, Bill Gates King of the Nerds,  is my hero at the moment!

Make a Freedom of Information Act application if you want to get your hands on confidential Submission 76 -

This link will take you to where you apply

    http://www.foi.vic.gov.au/home/how+to+apply/making+a+request/index.html

Maybe someone from the group who is organising the rally is the best person to do this?

    Cheers,

Tell me I gotta have headlight on ok. Now I have to wear Fluorescent vest. Next my bike must be bright yellow and have pink tassels .  I understand we need to be seen. But being told for the privilege of paying huge rego, insurance for generally hurting no one but myself.

Its being told you must wear this. You must do anything your told because minimum fines are $700

this state and country is headed into some fucked up communist shit. Stand up now..it's out of control.

would go to this for sure, but the natives will be looking real close to make sure your ride is SAFE. And don't feel like another $704 this month.

I have a quick question , if hi vis is passed does that mean all push bike cyclist have to also wear hi vis , it only seems fair as they're just as vunerable as motor bike riders ,the other night I saw a guy go pass me with a high vis vest on , still couldn't see him any better , his lights were more than bright enough and in daylight they make no bloody difference , let's get things right , the cops want this passed , it has absolutely nothing to do with safety (otherwise cyclist would be req yield to wear hi vis too ) , it's aimed at the 1% mcs  and the government is going to punish everyone to do it. It's a stupid law as there will be more riders doing a runner from the cops causing a more dangerous senecio than wearing hi vis vest saving lives (just ask ya local motorcycle postie how many times a day he gets cut off or hit , and ya don't get more hi vis than them)

I find it funny that some people think the government alerts them of new laws before they are passed. The government keeps things as quiet as possible because once this crap comes to pass it's 100 times harder to undo.

its sad to say i think its coming and is already a done deal. Failure of the motorcycling rider fraternity to support the protest rides and raise this matter with their local MPS will be taken by those in Authority as approval of the proposed legislation. You can talk on here all you like it wont change a damn thing. Write or go and see your local MP urgently this report is being presented to the Victorian parliament next week.
