While I admire your bravato, you might as well not be wearing a helmet as well, as all you will accomplish is being booked, not allowed to move your bike unless wearing the gear, & if you do it enough times, you will lose your liscence! If & when the time does arrive, it will be time like this fine bunch of men, & others like us to gang together & ride in protest as one large group. For the old school Phylosophy still holds true: Together we stand, devided we fall! Media attention is what wins wars! As a matter of fact, we should organise just that now in every state, before it becomes law!  What do you guys think?

Spot on Erny, this is a Nation wide problem not just Victoria. While its only proposed in Vic it will filter to the other states. I still cant believe of all the bike riders in Vic there were only around 3500 signatures up till yesterday ( I did see a lot of interstate signatures ) maybe some dont know about it, I had no idea till I saw it here, but the point is, these Bastards are eroding our rights a bit at a time, that's what pisses me off the most. ...

     Erny is right.

But ill add this, every biker should write a letter of protest to both there state and federal member and informing them that if they vote for this, then well name them and ask every biker not to vote for them. This could be done on a facebook, twitter page, and beleive me, the pollies read them. And we now know the power of social web sites.

Right now, I think the balance is right. Helmuts, a no brainer, headlights, I dont care really, but telling me what to wear is crossing the line. If this law gets to the debating stage in parliment, we should organise a mass rally in every city during a work day, not the weekend, so we really make a point, and welcome all, scooter rides, even pushbike riders.

Isnt this about the erosion of rights, The law allows banks and investment banks, financial firms to self regulate, even though theve been caught ripping billions of shareholders, the public, ect Bikers should be responsible for there own actions and what they wear. Point is theres a lot more worthy cause for pollies to chase rather than wasting time on my dress code.

Me thinks that hear in QLD, the scab mentality will surface yet again. Oh shit, i dont want hi viz laws passed, but ill hide under the bed and say zilch and leave it to others to protest the hi viz laws. Youll see.

yeah thats what will happen unfortunately we live in an age where this generation havent really seen what bad really is. i am a tradie and most the people i know in the industry dont even go to the rallys beacuause they enetered the trade after all there rights had already been won by the generation b4 them. some arnt even in the union at all and still expect to get paid the same and follow all the unions rules when it suits them.now the government is trying to bann unions from sites and get rid of them completely and they are using the media (the herald sun) as a way to make the union look bad in an attept to turn more people against tradies. the same thing goes for this high viss buisness unless people start uniteing together and fighting back against this bullshit then its only a matter of time before they pass in other laws against bikies like speed restrictors or only fullface helmets must be worn. they make these rules untill it no longer becomes as profitable for them then they just add some new ones to keep the cash rolling in

It would be good to find a local MP, a local or state member of parliament who rides a motorbike and is passionate about his bike and riding it etc, and get him onside, asking him what the best way to beat the stupid new rules would be.  I am sure they would like to ride n wear what they like as well rather than being a lollie pop riding down the road in all hi-vis etc.

use the govt against itself so to speak.    surely there must be a few decent politicians whoi ride bikes who could help. just a thought.

Look they the fucken pollies tried this sort of shit in the mid 70s tried to make us stop wearing black helmets and wear brightly coloured ones it didn't work none of the riders of the day took any notice of it and we just kept on wearing our black hats, if  the petition fails you ignore the new legislation, they will find out in a very short time that there is a very strong voice out there, so fuck with it at your own peril your job is on the line

I found this interesting. A comment made by Rex Beard on page 3. Nothing is set in stone yet. The comments made by Sergeant Bill Gore were not on behalf of the Vic government or the police, but rather his own thoughts.

My personal feeling is that this potential "law" is not going to be something they can easily pass and enforce.

You wonder why the Goverment gets away with anything they want. This site & thread is the perfect example of why.  Out of 1871 viewers who read this thread, only a handful of the 69 replies signed on the preverbial dotted line. You pack of slack fucking poofters should be ashamed of yourselves! If this law if finally passsed don't fucking bitch to me you fucking soft cocks! The powers that be should add the facility to click up the lurkers & see who they are! Very disapointing girls! I can only hope they are visiting non-Harley owners!

PS. If I have offended anyone ..... GOOD!

To the many people may have signed but not posted.

I think it is better to sign and post, rather than just sign as posting in itself keeps the issue alive, hundreds of pages with views on hi viz signing makes for more people reading and considering issue rather than a thread on page 900.

The people know who they are. If you have signed then feel good about trying to make a difference, you don't need to say anything.  If you haven't signed, this is what Crazy is refering to. Come on People. DO THE RIGHT THING.

Just read Micks, that makes sense aswell.

Thanks Mick, & FlhuTChu, Both of you are right & have valid points. And thanks to you Bob for doing your share, for if we don't stick together, not only will we have to wear Hi Viz, clothing, but it will not be long into the future before it will be compulsory to have Hi Viz paintwork on our Bikes, as the government doesn't understand the meaning of compromise, when it's on a winning streak! ...... (Unless it means losing votes.) Our community should understand that we for different reasons are not loved by the government, nor the majority of the public for tht matter. I suspect it's resentment due to the fact that we represent the last of the "Alpha Males" & freedom! So once again I say:
Together we stand, divided we fall!

Either I've missed something or Shadow's lost the plot. Are you asking how would they police people not wearing hi-vis?
