+1 Mick. How can 40+ people reply to whether you should have a beard or not (!) and yet can't take the time to comment here? I'm hoping that not replying to this thread doesn't translate into not completing the petition. I'll be signing it and I've completed the    roadsafety.vic.gov.au survey also in opposition to hi-vis clothing and front number plates. If you don't give a shit, dont whine and whinge when you're at Aussie Disposals deciding whether the yellow fluoro or the orange fluoro vest goes best with your bike!

     What i want !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To all those that signed the petition, you know, put your fucken name and details to something, because you beleive in standing up for your rights, to be exempt from high vis clothing.

To all those that wont sign, to be required by law to wear high vis clothing with hefty fines if the cops pull you over and catch you wearing non vis clothing.

That would solve the ancient scab problem that has made a return to modern society

Don't worry, the way things are going they'll ban bikes soon so this topic will be irrelevant. High Vis wont work so its the logical next step.

I think a few people totally missed the point i was making on my original post.  Safety is paramount when riding a bike versus looking pretty unless u are a idiot. If u wear everything black, and you are extremely hard to see when in traffic, its hard to complain about a broken leg and back or a broken bike when the car driver says he didnt see you at all cause u blended in with the black bike n black road. The morgues are full of people who disagree with saftey n common sense.

I would rather come home to my wife n 3 kids every night that get run over cause some idiot didnt/couldnt see me etc. Thats why i suggested a hi vis helmet would be better than what the government was suggesting, IF u chose to wear it, my suggestion wasnt mandatory.

Therefore, something SMALL Hi Vis (a compromise which is what i suggested), even a helmet with a small hi-vis stripe is ALOT better than the government deciding you have to wear everything Hi Vis and you looking like a glowing lolly pop. * Its not me who should fuck off because i have an opinion that encourages motor bike safety, and a belief that the government SHOULDNT dictate a all or nothing rule to bikers. The only person who should fuck off is the government dept trying to start a stupid rule without industry consultation first.  Less smartass and more thinking/problem solving would help the issue at hand, unless u already know everything and are happy with the governments rule, which i was against in my first post.

What you're saying is goofy and offered nothing, HDHH. Your compromise to the government is to allow people the right to chose whether or not to have a reflective stripe (or whatever) on their helmet. I may be fucking way of the mark here, but that's exactly what's on offer now. Who the hell is stopping you from sticking a radioactive snail trail across your helmet if you want one?

As for all black is extremely hard to see in traffic, who says? I'm surprised the armed forces aren't all ninja black instead of yellow, blues greens and reds in their camo...

Compromise sucks, we've already compromised with helmets and headlights etc.

signed and also posteed the link on facebook to try get more people to help with the cause.

The problem isnt high viss i used to ride around in a sunburnt orange ninja  it was very easy to see me coming and i still had shit drivers who didnt look in the rearview mirror give me close calls. high viss is not gonna stop bad drivers who dont headcheck when changing lanes, if anything they need to make it harder to get your drivers licence not punish motorbike riders by trying to humiliate us or suffer fines for yet another revenue raiser. this is bullshit

I never said anyone "should have to" ever wear anything Hi Vis. I was only suggesting that a very small compromise gets put forward so to speak instead of having the clowns in the government make people wear full lollie pop everything Hi Vis.

Sometimes its best to conceed something very small and get your own way versus 100 percent disagreeing with the government muppets and getting stuck with the 100 percent Hi Vis etc. After all, its the government u are dealing with and politicians, and its not likely they will ever back down due to media etc etc, but they might conceed to a small compromise and that means bike riders get 90 percent of what they wanted. They (the govt) might then come out with some media story labelled ""HI Vis now mandatoryfor motorcycle clothing"", but if its a lousy hi vis stripe on a helmet or something small, they (the govt) can sprook off and believe they have won and regulated yet another safety issue, but bikers get stuck with something small versus the whole lolliepop suit.

Rarely does the government back down, but let the fools think they have won with a industry put forward small compromise. I cant see them doing a about face, so sometimes the small compromise is a way to live another day etc.

Does anyone seriously think that the Govt will 100 percent back down on this issue ? If the answer is No, then a small compromise was a way out so to speak to avoid full lollie pop suits which obviously suck bigtime. If i thought the government for one second would back down, i would never have suggested a compromise. Dammed if ya do, dammed if ya dont really.

    Just a view.

When i grew up. i skinned my knees, fell off the monkey bar, got clobered playing footy, and i woulnt change a thing.  I see on the news, that some schools are banning playing footy at school, some are removing monkey bars, and some are banning fucken hop scotch. WTF. So now where going to have even fatter, more unhealthy kids at school.

Why ??. Because some mongrel bastard parents little shit of a kid got a bump at school or a graze on his/her little pinky, gone in and complained, threatened to sue, ect. The vast majority dont get involved and stand up to these mongrel parents and education officials. So they ban the footy, remove the monkey bars and the kids loose out. There goes the fun part of growing up. Wrap em up in cotten wool. and take their childhood away.

Im talking about primary school kids here.

Now, i did my bike learners time, ect, So someone in the self server government has decided, shit, i dont like black jackets, I know, ill complain to the minister and alas. Lets take all the fun out of being experienced motorcyclists, Just like there doing to kids. Fat, unhealthy kids but at least there safe.

The road safety regs are probably about balanced at present. But nope, not good enough, lets introduce more and more stupid regs. Lets make Australia a total nanny state and take all responsibily away from bikers and force our ,we know whats best for you, even though we dont ride bikes mentality on you.

NOTE TO CAMBELL : Please, please please sack these pricks from forcing more stupid rules on us and i promise ill vote for you.
