I'd like to hear of people's personal experience with Screamin Eagle's 255 cam's? Did you feel a noticable increase in Torque & HP? Are you happy with them?
I've come across a set including pushrods for $350, i'm thinking this is pretty good money? My bike is a 2011 FXST with SERT, Spear air filter & Big Radius two into two pipes. My general riding RPM range is between 2800 to 5000 RPM & i'm looking for a cam to suit this.
In a year or so i'm planing on doing a full upgrade to a Stage 4 103 ci kit. I'm trying to decide whether this cam upgrade will give me a noticebale increase in Torque & HP to tied me over until I step up to the 103 ci kit in 12 plus months.
I know very little about cam's so any information would be greatly aprreciated!
Cheers, Spero..
Cheers for your info Hardtail, it's much appreciated!
When i'm riding I don't like to be under 2800RPM in any gear & prefer to be sitting around 3000RPM. 80% of the time i'm changing up a gear around or a bit over 4000RPM, but want a cam that's going to pull until at least 4500RPM. If i'm really giving it some stick for shits & giggles i'll hold it open to just over 5000RPM.
I'm really looking for a cam thats going to come on strong around 2700-3200RPM & pull to at least 4500RPM, what would you recommend?
Hmmm i'm real keen to hear how you go with the 583 cam's, I was looking into a set of these before the 255's cam up at a good price!
Ando, do you know what RPM the 255's stop working so to speak?
The reply to individual messages doesn't seem to be working, or i'm hitting the wrong reply button. Hopefully the guys that have shared info will get my reply's.
I'm really looking for a cam that's working from around 2700 - 3200RPM that will pull to at least 4500RPM. After todays ride I reckon I spend 80% of the time within these RPM ranges with gear changes generally around 4000RPM or a little over. When I feel the urge to give it some stick or trying to outrun mates i'll push it out to just over 5000RPM.
From what the Screamin Eagle catalogue had to say & my local HD guy I thought the 255's were a pretty good choice, an even better choice for $350 plus pushrods! I know a mate that's got a set of 259's & I think he has a set of 204's as well...
Thanks again for everyone's info..
Spero..
Hey Ando, cheers for your reply! Any chance you could give me a mugs version of what you just said as i've got no idea what your talking about?? ie: what cam would be closest to the specs you've just outlined?
Thanks mate..
Hey Hogbag, have you used the 204's in any of your bikes? Or do you have any mates that have?
