A while back I saw some comments on here from a bloke called Ed from a company called SICK SADDLES in the USA.  http://www.sicksaddles.com/  I had a look at his site and the single Sportster seat starts at $155 delivered to Australia.  They looked ok for the money, so I ordered one for Karens bike (883 L) and optioned it up with leather and memory foam.  Only took about two weeks from order to delivery (Ed is a one man business) and cost $245 delivered.  Quality is FAR better than I expected, and Karen says its much, much better than the standard seat.  I think sitting on the frame would be better than the standard seat on the low !  The stitching is very good and neat, as is the quality of the leather.  I was so impressed, I've ordered one for my Fatbob.  Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I'll take some more if the sun ever comes out again in Melbourne,

that loos great, definately want to know about how you go with the fatbob, I need to get a little closer to the bars and tried the HD reduced reach seat. It apparently only moves you forward 1" but I felt it was more like 3" as my knee was bashing into the A/C.
Post up how you find the new seat please when you get it on.

I hear what you are saying.  So far I have 1...the orginal seat  2...Harley custom leather seat  3...Sundowner seat  4...Harley premium seat with backrest.  The time I've wasted changing back and forth and not being really comfortable on anything other than the original, I could have grown a calf to full size, killed it, tanned its hide and figured out how the make my own seat!

Other than the original, my knee hit the A/C, so I fixed that easily by fitting a round A/C.  the sundowner is comfy, but moves me too far forward.  The custom seat looks ace, but is too skinny and hard for my fat arse.  The other one is basically a sundowner with a backrest.  The backrest doesn't seem to tilt back far enough for me to be happy with, though I have had 3 rounds of spinal surgery and don't bend as well as I should.  I'll let you know how it is when I get it.  If you are ever in Melbourne, you are welcome to get in touch and try out my seat collection !

    cheers mate.
after you skin the calf you can get a bbq on the go and we will all turn up.
bad backs and bikes are a hred thing to resolve.
I like the stock seat other than the reach issue I would keep it, although the young bloke was winging about it being a bit hard this morning. Bad luck for him. If the wife starts winging then that might be another story

Karen took the bike for a ride yesterday, and is extremely happy with the seat.  She said it makes it feel like a totally different bike, with no aches or numb bits when she hops off.  The memory foam compresses nicely, but not enough to feel the seat base underneath like the original. Money well spent I think.  Happy wife, happy life !!

Just checked the sick saddles website and purchased a black leather saddle with silver flame inserts. There is an image on the homepage. it looks as cool as.

Ed was very helpful. Can't wait to put it on my Nightster.

Hey fat tim, has that seat shown up for your Fatbob yet?
I'm interested to hear what your thoughts are as I ordered the Dyna custom 2 up in leather with memory foam about the same time as you opened this post.
    Cheers, Andy

    G'day Tim,
Thanks, I appreciate it. From all I've read on the net, I'm sure it should definitely be well worth the money and I'm looking forward to getting my hands (or butt) on mine.
    Cheers, Andy

Andy,  seat arrived yesterday and I fitted it last night.  Narrower and thinner than the sportster seat (it is a different seat after all).  Had to do some minor  ""tweaking"" of the brackets to make it line up with all the attachment holes perfectly, but nothing too drastic.  The single seat on its own fits perfectly, but when you fit the two together, the pillion seat doesn't quite sit right.  Its fine once you plonk your arse on it though.  If I can polish up the rear guard from years of having a double seat, I may just run the Sick Saddles seat as a single.  Sorry about the quality of the photos, I'll try and get some outside this weekend.  I haven't ridden it yet, so I can't comment on the comfort, but it feels pretty goood sitting in the shed.  Because its so low, those floorboards I fitted are now way too high, placing your knee way higher than your hip, and I'm not as flexible as I was.  I'd look like a demented yabbie flapping my legs about to reduce cramping in the hips if I rode to far the way it is, so its back to the forward controls.

Shit, just noticed the dates wrong on the camera,  there goes two hours trying to reset that !!!

tim that looks better than I thought it would. Be keen to see how the comfort is. Do you think it has moved you forward at all? Get the Mrs to try out the passenger to see how that is if she is up for a ride with you.
It looks like you need to drill an extra hole for the single seat mounting?

Tim, thanks for the phots mate. It definitely looks the goods, but its a bit unfortunate about the pillion seat. Hopefully a little bit of "customisation" might fix it, as ive got the same one coming too!
As Max says, definitely interested to hear what the comfort levels are like too..
Hmmmm, you're not wrong about the date either........September 11......

Just a couple of shots showing how the seat sits now.  Didn't get a chance to ride it, working all weekend.
