yer yer i guess we have all heard it, "dont buy one mate ul regret it, get a triumph" blah blah blah.
my responce is normaly " well so do helicopters dickhead". You have obviously been misinformed!
What do you guys think?
To be honest the only issue iv had was a little electrical and a primary seal leak on an old girl once.
cheers.
I think it's a version of penis envy mixed in with the fact that once upon a time long ago, some Harley's did break down unreasonably often.
I don't care, mine has been just great.
I've seen statements on here like "Dont get a Shovel first off, need to get something more recent to start with"
Sure the old Harleys needed a lot of maintance, but I rekon a lot of the old Brit brands did as well.
Just the way it was. For some unknown reason Harley copped the brunt of "They always break down" but 8 times out of 10 it was because of crap service.
Oi C*nt ,dont knock Jap cruisers cause your puting your self in with the Priks that knock Harleys.
That aside, the Japs are into old Harleys big time. I mentioned the Article on The JJ. Fuk I wish I had the time and the money to do what they do, Ohh and of course, a Fuking Government that would allow it.
Yer there are some out there that will never understand but in saying this there are some Harley riders that can do some damage as well, how often have we read on forums that someone owning a Harley will put shit on another Harley because of the motor it is running eg: Shovels or older ones break down all the time and leak oil, Evo's crack engine cases and do cam bearings, Twin Cams cam chain tensior shits itself oil pumps are fucked and the list goes on I heard it all. It's good to have a opinion but sometimes it's better to keep to yourself it's hard to explain to a non Harley rider about bikes when they read some shit from someone who owns a Harley that likes to knock another Harley owners bike, anyway my two cent's worth.
My 0.2...
I had a Jap cruiser before the FatBoy. It was Yammie XVS VStar and I will say that I reckon it handled much better than the Fatboy. Maybe it was because it was smaller bike - I don't know exactly - but I loved it, no doubt.
It looked bloody good too in my opnion.
With regards to the OPs original post - I know a bloke that has a $90,000 BMW car, and yep - it broke down - nothing is perfect.
Cheers
Mongrel
Yeah MJ, I ride a Jap Cruiser.Suzuki LC.
Done a 100,00k on it, mainly in Sydney Traffic.
But I've had numerous bikes over the Years including an Old BMW R100s.78 model.
Couldnt afford the 90.
Getting A fully rebuilt 1984 FXST next week as well.
But definately keeping the bike in the picture mate, heaps of soul for me.
