Ok, So...
Brand new 1200 custom, Less than 275km on the clock.
17 litre tank bla bla bla.
Is it normal for me to only be getting about 135kms to a full tank, Before the light comes on, Indicating ive only got about 25kms left?
By all calculations, The range should be about 300km!!
Surely the fact that its a new engine, wouldnt cut the fuel economy down to just over 1/3rd i.e. 66% loss?
You need to run the Engine in, Ride it Hard and labour it up a bit, The Rings need to bed in, , My Bike was the same for about the first 500km ,,Then you should get about 280 to a tank
Well, I took it for about a 3 1/2 hr ride straight down the freeway on Friday arvo, 120+ the whole way, Even pushing it to 140-150 at times, and it's passed the 500k mark now.
Going to be making the return trip back home, In a couple of hours, But I'm still not sure if it's ready to do the entire trip in one leg, So I'll probably stop at a couple of petrol stations on the way, And top it up, Even if it's only a half a tank or less.
I'll have to give it a damn good cleaning when I get back, Since it's going to be completely coated in dead bugs and slime...Not that it isn't already!!
