Hi all. Collecting the coins for a night train purchase and not sure on the values. I know imports and the economy has a lowering effect but still a little confused. After a 2007 or newer night train sub 10,000 klms excellent nick and stock apart from maybe bars and exhaust. Now most if not all I'm seeing are us imports around the $24,500 mark from dealers. I want to know what they are actually changing hands for. Import or not. So any recent sales anyone can tell me about ??

Devo, got my 07 night train from Heavy Duty in Brissie and yeah an import with 5K on the clock about 18 months ago. I am real happy with it. It was and still is in as new condition....traded my 05 Nightie in on it. Was around $24K. Since put a nice cam, high flow, S&S Slip on's and 103 in the thing and still love it. It's a keeper for me

Expect to pay a bit more for the NT, NT's are popular in Aussie and so they should be they do look good! I do not know what state your in Devo but in Perth at American Cycles a month or so ago there was a Vin H1 2006 (carby) advertised price of 22K, I am sure that this was the asking price as it was the only sled I enquired about, but when I saw the purple I asked if they were kidding.

At this asking price I would be looking USA myself.

yeah they are popular. Always wanted one. Occasionally my eyes wander but always back on a Night train soon after. $24,000 does seem to be the mark but i havent found any Aussie NT in comparable condition to judge price. You get the odd dreamer but advertised price and sale price are often very different. I have bought and sold a few muscle cars over recent years and believe me dont trust the advertised price. The stuff that actually sells is normally way cheaper.

Not really interested in an 06. To bigger jump up in the 07 ( 6 speed etc).Im comfortable with the US import thing as long as you know a cheaper buy will at some point end in a cheaper sell to. But buying 07 or newer i dont see how anyone could question there quality. They all look like new. if you can get one with a few bolt ons like exhaust and bars. Its so close to importing yourself you have to wonder.

Just trying to identify what local NTs in similar condition go for. Dont appear to be too many out there.

    Cheers

My nightrain is worth a shit load more than $25k
but that's me, I would guess not to you guys

the only question I could think of, If NT's are so popular, why do people buy other models and but wish they had one?

Im with you Soapbox, mine is woth more than the $25,500.00 im asking for it....
Probably because you cant buy them any more.....
The imports have fucked the resale value of every model, WE pay the price
because the stupid Yanks are broke.......

They should be cheaper.....Until the day I own one then prices to the moon I say.

I change my mind a bit. Iv had musclecars. Road bikes. Dirt bikes. Aircraft(moneypit).
And everything in-between. The HD night train was always the " one day" purchase. Always out of reach kinda thing.

Well I think the time has come. Only go round once with this game.

Let's be honest. That could be said for most Harley's until you add your own touches. I'm not a chrome whore and black always looks cool.

     G'Day Devo

I've recently purchased an 08 NightTrain. (Aussie Delivered not an Import)

I was exactly the same eyes seemed to wander but always back to the NT.

I was looking for ages and all around the 24-25k mark.

I ended up finding an 08 for 22k with 14 on the clock.

Dead stock except for S&S Slip Ons, filter and power commander 5. Had no roady.

Needed new tyres for roady and original muffler put back on. (Which came with the sale)

I thought this was a great price and perfect for what i wanted as i could do my own little things to how i liked rather than dealing with whatever mods had already been done.

There are a few out there still, Not many aussie delivered but you will just have to be patient i suppose.

Since i got the NT i have done solo seat, LED Tailight, Smoked Indicator Lenses and just put on some Black Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 and i love my bike.

    Wouldn't change anything.

    Good luck in fiinding one

I actually got my aussie delivered 08 night train some time back now.
Under 6,000 klm and got it for $25,000. The sweetener was the $15,000 plus spent on it all exactly what I was going to do myself so big saving there.

    Cheers

The Night Train definitely has a very strong following in oz. I think coz it gets away from your typical all chromed up dolly look. The NT gives a bad ass look. I never looked at Harleys for decades thats until I met the NT albeit late. I had been searching hi and low for the 'right' one for over a year. So I have learned a few things about getting one.

If you can afford it go for 07+ larger engine, 6 speed gearbox and the last of the model as they stopped producing it in 09. Hence making it more in demand. If your on a budget and can afford only so much then consider years below 07 as they tend to go for under 20k. Dont get hung up on USA prices vs Oz, it is what it is. A year back USA prices for 07-09 were about 11-12.5k. Now more like 12-14.5k. Importing can cost you anywhere between 6-8k dont forget GST has to be paid on them (incl.import costs) also now aussie dollar aint what it was. I wouldnt advise you to import alone theres so many pitfalls you can get in major trouble. Using a reputable importer is the go, like Chopaweeza on this forum. QLD have a few importers and the average price is 23.8 + on road. But I reckon they will be going up due to the dollar and higher USA prices. On road anywhere between 1200-1500 which doesnt include interstate transport. Local sellers ie oz delivered think they can get more as being oz delivered, only diff is VIN prefix number 5 for the rest of the world where USA models start with 1. Local models you have more chance finding out its history, imported less so. But how much history do you need to know if the bike has done less then 3k miles?.

I found one '09 that was imported with 1700 miles on the clock with worthwhile extras that I wanted and local to me so no need for extra transport costs. I bought it after 10 minutes of viewing without even a test ride as the price was right at 21k + on road and in mint condition. You'll find pics on my threads. Best advice I can offer is to take your time, dont rush in and when you find the right one...bite.

To each his own, yeah 07 later 6 speed, only FI, and crank issues. As for me i would want a 06 still carbed but wider tire. So half empty half full its your choice, i still love my 00. NightTrain Owners Club Facebook
