Hi all,

Just need some advice on wiring in a ignition module. got one from Ebay, but the colours dont all match. five wires in total. the ones on the bike are purple/white, black, red, white/black and green. the ones on the Ebay module are white, black, red, green and brown. could anyone please advise which connect to which? 

any help would be great. Steve

 I think it is a dual fire as there are only two wires going to the coil. (white/black and red) I dont know the brand as I am at work, but will put the link up when I get back to my laptop.  thanks for your input though buddy.

 you will have to check that you have the right coil for the new ign system

How would you know if the coil matches the ignition module. as I have wired it all up. there is power to the module and the led light is on but no spark.

with the old module the bike starts for about 12 seconds then stops. Just trying to work out what the problem could be.

 if you have the 5 coloured wires as the e-bay special red /black /white /green/brown  it's a single fire type ign system  as i have only fitted about 150 of them, not all @ once , but you will need a single fire coil  a single fire coil has 3 teminals 1 for red i for black & 1 for the white, , tell us how you wired this unit up what colour is where 

sorry guys .hear is the info. its a MID-USA  DUAL FIRE IGNITION MODULE .

hear are some pics the 1st  one is the original harley module

and the second pic is the new mid usa one . also do you think it would need a different coil for this one .as i cant get any spark from it .

i look up mid usa  its a single fire  ign system part # 17570  , it has the same coloured wires as the Crane single fire system , this will not work with a dual fire coil,  i hope you have not put any power to the new module only to red or you will blow her brains out

 you have the instruction's sheet  & you wired it up as per  & it doe's not work  it must be the coil has gone south , i didn't know you had the instruction sheet, i have never seen this type of moudle before every man & his dog has one thesedays

 hi,   i forgot check with a test light that you have power to the coil  kill switch not working etc ,  bike is 15 yrs old , coil put a new 1 on anyway ,  on the back of that module if it has  1 pick-up were the potor passes thru it's a dual fire if it 2 pick-ups it's a single fire ,    thats the best i can do

Just an update on the Sportster. All wired up and runing.

This is how it needed to be wired.

New mod to bike wires

Red-white/black (pos)

black-pink (neg)

brown-black (tacho)

green-white/purple (voes)

white- green (bank angle sensor)

 Thanks Dr. I will check it out. As you said in one of your posts, that the Mid Usa ignition module is just the same crane module.
