    Guys

After weeks of research, discussions & advice..thanks to all who helped.... i tried drilling out the ends of my SE baffles on sunday using a step drill bit and extension bar...only to find the baffle end of the SE slip ons to be set at a 45 degree angle...unable to be drilled while still intact

SO... finally took the plunge tonight.

removed the screws, using the correct bit, pulled the baffles out (really easy to get out) and inspected the funtion.

decidied to leave the fibreglass packing in...seemed really stuck in, so didnt want to tempt fate. noticed the baffle barrels had 18 holes drilled in them, so i decided to score, punch and drill 2 more at the end of each line of 3 holes...takin the total from 6 rows of 3 holes, to 6 rows of 5 holes.

replaced all the parts i had removed, fingers crossed and sparked it up.

WOW....throaty burble with a great bark with a twist of the throttle.

cant wait to get out on the road on weekend to see how she sounds with a kick of fuel.

    will keep you posted.

let me know if anyone needs info on this.

Awesome mate. Sorry my method for stock baffles did not work. The stock baffles are not removable, so drilling them in place is easier. Your approach to remove the SE baffles and just drill more holes in them is tops. Easy to keep going with another row of holes if you need more as well. Cheer, TC

     Hi TC

No worries at all mate, I returned the parts...drill bit and extension,  to my friends at bunnings so no harm done. I am really happy with the result. I did notice the difference between the stock and SE slip ons which was significant. At least your advice got the ball rolling for me which is great.

Hope you had a chance to look at the pics of the other mods I posted last night. Looking at lowering the bike now....I just  continue to move from one mod to another.....

    Johno.

     Right....TC

    Good point...will look into that

I might look at upgrading A/C to stage 1 unit.

Might start a new thread to ask advice on the best way to go, whether after market or HD cert parts best way go, also most cost effective way to re-map.

    Have you done yours?

I know this is an old thread but it does contain pictures of the Screaming Eagle slip on baffles that I'm playing with.

I put screaming eagle slip on's onto my Fatboy recently after removing Vance and Hines big radius pipes. The new eagles now contain a catalytic converter which is housed in a bulged area of the baffle at the end where the flange that the screws holding it into the pipe are.
Also, the baffles contain a series of holes where the gases pass through. Normally there are 18 holes, 3 x 6 rows. As above, JOHNO23 drilled more, which is what I have also done, but fuck me when I removed the baffles, the top pipe baffle had the 18 holes, but the bottom pipe baffle only had 12 holes, 2 x 6 rows. Why, noise control maybe, considering the top pipe is suppose to to have the flap valve blocking it. How the fucking gases are suppose to get out if the flap valve is closed and both cylinders are feeding out through 12 x 7mm holes, I don't know. The valve is disabled on my bike thankfully. Anyway, just a heads up.

    Soft...

    Hey Johno,
I know its an old post but, how did you manage to get the baffles back in? :P Mine's stuck and won't go all the way in to align with the holes to put the screws in. :(
