Hi all ! can anyone tell me firstly how to find out what size spacers i need to fit to my new/ second hand, billet front wheel of my 2010 softail standard i.e where do you measure to and fromto get the right space measurement to centre the wheel and also can i still use the o.e disc rotor on the new billet wheel or does it need to be offset ? the wheel has been fitted up but sits to one side slightly and the new wheel is also 21" x 3.5 instead of the original 21" x 2.15 can anybody recommend where to buy these spacers and the most accurate way or place to measure ?

    any advice greatly appreciated.

    Downo,
You need to do a comparison off the the original hub (21" x 2.15") with the original rotor, compare these measurements against the new wheel hub. This is the basics, it is very hard to give advice without seeing the actual items, so please accept this advice.

If you do not know how to handle a vernier then this is not a job you should be attempting as reading off a 6" rule to half a millimetre will not do. Find a mate who is a Fitter/Turner or Machinist and this will be a walk in the park. When he has completed the final measurements he will most certainly be able to turn up the required spacers in staino as required.

lift the bike up @ the front straight up  use a sprit level across the frame under the seat  so the bike is straight up , slip  the wheel in & find the centre in the bike looking from under the steering post centre  that is the centre of your steering  use  a plum-bob or a long s/teel ruler for inbetween the forks centre  that way wheel is set-up in the middle  then measure for what spacer you need  if you do not  have a inside vernier  could be a bit hard ,  what ever look for in the middle  under the the steering post main stem to the middle of your tyre

Just added new wheels to my Evo FL. I put the front wheel on, with the disk all botled up, axle through and  put the brake on. This held it in situ while I measured the spacers...Did the same while I put the fatty wheels on the TC springer.

Have done them when I was a bit younger and broker by stacking washers till the wheel was in the right position, useing this for a measurement then sourcing a spacer of the same dimensions......give or take.

It's not rocket science, otherwise motorcycle mechanics would be called - Rocket scientists

Yeh i know what you trying to get accross Damage ! but the prob i have found is that the wheel when i fitted it up to the bike with my original brake rotor and no spacers fitted tends to sit around about 8mm to the left or brake rotor side if you like!! so even if i get the correct spacers i think there must be some sort of an adapter or maybe a different rotor application ??? really have no idea what is used ?? if it were a car i'd be all over its arse!!! and problem solved but i am a bit reluctant to just jump into anything with the bike as its the only one i will ever have and 30k worth o bike i and fckn it up for no reason, all thre jappas ive had over the yrs were standard just point and shoot but this is a bit different.
