Oil Drain Plugs

So this afternoon I am changing the oils in the FatBob and I find that all the drain plugs (3) have had some sort of sealant, like that white pipe sealant on them.  I would hate to get any of this shit in the working parts of the motor or clutch.

Is this a normal practice to use this sort of stuff? or is there a tech bulletin out that says to use it??????

The service manual doesn't say to use it, so I am guesing the last HD dealer I had do the 1,600km service did it.

unless you have a sealing washer or rubber seal on a plug that leads into an area containing oil, then you need a thread sealant like Loctite 567 on it,

Yeah the rubber seal was in place on all 3 plugs, mabe overkill by the dealer.
