    Hi Guys,

I realise that this topic has probley been done to death in the past, but i thought i would bring it up again, im picking up my very first harley this afternoon and want to break her in right.

Its almost 300k from the dealership to home, any suggestions ?

follow what the dearel tells you.
they will probably tell you do not lug the motor, no constant engine speed, load it up, dont over rev it
300ks sounds like a trip which may be difficult to follow the proceedure but it is esential for you not to glaze the bores
and yes it has been discussed before and recently

from what ive read i might have to make a few stops on the way to cool her down and heat her up again??

I did pretty much did what Ozy has mentoned, but I found a set of hills on the way home, plenty of geat changes, no constant throttle and no heavy chugging. I've done just over 600 Kms now and it's freeing up nicely. There must be a pub on the way home? If so you can add to the Bikes and Pubs Forum Pics as well. You can both cool off a little too.. LOL.

    Have fun and enjoy.

Different speeds and revs, don't rev her too hard but certainly don't lug it either

    Love it

Like any virgin hard and fast for the first 1000 strokes and she's good to go.

Remember when you were being broken in? slow and cautious at the very start but after you get the hang of it, hammer away like there's no tomorrow. Your bike will still respect you in the morning!

In my dealers words.... "Ride it like you stole it"

I have seen what they do to that engine before it leaves the factory - believe me, the 300 clicks you have in front of you will not matter a lick. :)
