Shop around and make sure you get a quote from New England Insurance Brokers (NEIB) who use Lumley Insurance for their bike cover. If it wasnt for this mob id still be riding around uninsured.

These days ya need to chuck a sikie and spend a day ringing around and lookin on line at all the "special rates" that all the companies have. But it can save you hundreds if you are methodical and have plenty of patience.

What's all this "Insure my ride" biz that says "cheap cheap cheap! save 25% online!"...they're one of the most expensive! You'd wanna save 25% to put them in the same ballpark as the other bastards.

I gotta insure my iron this week, I'm thinking Swann. They seem OK.

Terroristone seems to have the same setup as me, and it sounds like it worked for him :D

I went and saw the swann dealer at Harley heaven city store, he got one of the other staff members to do a valuation on my bike to make it as you see it. So yeah agreed for 22k and slightly cheaper than what I paid for a stock bike.
    $620ish from memory.

    Good timing here...

My renewal came in a couple of weeks ago, and of course the value had gone down to $32,000 and the premium had gone up. ( am with Swann by the way) So I called them and told them that I had added a bit more to it (new front end etc) and wanted the value put back to $36,000 - and I wanted the premium lowered.

Sure - she says... 3 minutes on hold - the value is back at $36,000 and the premium is now lower than it was last year! HAPPY!! Thanks Swanny!!

FYI - it's $62 a month direct debit from my credit card at no extra cost.

    Shit terroristone! $620!
I feel like a little tight-arse whiner now...I was tossing up between insurance for $450, and insurance for $392. Depending on level of cover..

My bike is pretty much stock 2010 iron 883, but with V&H short shots.

Was thinking that I'd insure it for an agreed value (say $13,000), then up it next year after some mods.
Now I'm not so sure... Is it better to wait on some mods, while you spend the dough on insuring the mods that you already have done?
