Check out this home made shock/spring compressor. Used parts from the garage and made it in under 10 minutes. Top part is a fencing flange to suit 60mm pipe. (usually welded to the fence post and bolted to the ground). It has a perfect curved lower section that fits the top of the shock perfectly. The rest of the stuff is Unistrut fittings. Made for $nil and works a treat.

Looks great. Does this let you take the shock apart then? I have wanted to paint the springs on my shocks, but need to take them apart to do the job.

The device I made was to allow me to take appart the shock tp paint the springs black. They were originally chrome but were really badly rusted. I used a product called PPC black coat spray paint I got from PPC in Warriewood. Firstly etched the surface with a metal etch.

The spring came in and out really easily. Simple job.
