This might sound stupid (im good at those questions) but what is the right way to lift a bike with these jacks?
Do you approach from the stand side or the high side?
    Do you hold the bike?
    Etc.
I could see the bike tipping if approached from the high side without some assistance.
    Am I over thinking this?

     Hi SG2012. check ya pms.

Approach from rhs and slide lifter under, and just poke it out about an inch past the lower cradle on the stand side. then keep stand down just in case and hold right grip while pumping up lifter.

Bike will start to stand upright and just keep lifting untill you are happy with the height. Tigger handles it no probs as did my last 3 harleys.

To let it down just do it in reverse but let it down gently. Don't just stamp on the lowering pedal or you will shit yourself.

PS i don't use tie downs either. My bad!

Another tip is when the wheels are just off the ground and you are still holding the rhs grip rock the bike a little to check that you have it in the right balance point before you get too high.... i only use tie downs when doing major work or when the bike will be "rock" buy undoing tight bolts etc.

When lowering as said press the leaver lightly otherwise you may find your bike on its side..... before lowering all the way make sure stand is down and keep a hold onto the rhs grip....

And of course use some common sense.

i remember reading a while back that somebody lowered their bike, while wearing thongs and stand up and bike hit the floor....they didnt even check the stand...... triple check things guys, buying tools dosnt have to make you one!!!! Work safe and take NO chances.

I just got one too, thanks for the heads-up Chopa.

I was a little disappointed with the quality, it is a bit rough. Having said that though, I've had my softail up on it and it was steady with no apparent problems at all! At $139.00 I shouldn't grumble, been wanting one for a long time, just couldn't part with the cash. I'd get it again and don't regret buying it.

How important is it to get the bike balanced relative to fore and aft, and where is the balance point?
