Near Stalling after long runs..

Anyone ever encountered this?  You've been out all day dodging and scaring old ladies and avoiding cops, no problems then after a long highway run you exit the motorway and hit a set of lights or something. As you are coming to a stop, the bike feels like it wants to stall.  Doesn't happen very often but it does happen.

    Could be a throttle problem?

    One of those things?

Learn new skills throttle wanking trying not to stall whilst braking at the same time?

    Any input is appreciated guys.

It's interesting because on hot days mine also does it.  I ride an 07 Street Bob.  I wonder if it happens to particular models or after a certain year?  EFI possibly?

I have an 07 streetbob also.

And it does the same thing, usually after a long hard ride. But not all the time.

It is like the computer is still catching up

When it does it , i hold the throttle open a little until it settles down.

Only takes a few seconds. Havnt worried about it. Hasnt got better or worse

Cheers Stewy, yeah I guess it is just one of those things. I know what you mean by the computer taking its time to catch up. It always catches me off guard ha!

Had that in my car a few times in the hot weather, cause vapour lock, perhaps a similar thing happens on the bikes.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem, and if it is on hot days, I would suggest trying premium fuel first, if that is no different, clean the carby and jets out.

Yeah cheers but these bikes are efi and always use premium anyway.
It's only happened like twice on mine. I put it down to fuel vaporization too as was hot days.

have you all got the standard header pipes still on the bike?

my guess its the butterfly valve closing on the rear exhaust hence when you say when you "throttle wank"  it comes good, thus opening the butterfly valve on the exhaust and it the engine starts to breat better.
