Thanks T1
I realized these were available about a week after I made mine !!!!
The JM gear great quality and fairly well priced.
Johno,
I looked again at your images - particularly the ones for the headlight bracket. Whilst I am happy with my bracket I made, there is still an ugly wiring harness and plug connection exposed behind the headlight. I looked inside the headlight and there are another two harness connections inside - so no room in there really to hide any more.
What did you do with your wires - I cant see them?
Dave
Hi Dave
No real secrets with the bracket, i think they are hidden due to the bracket being painted black to match the wiring etc.
I noticed my bracket is situated on top of the triple tree where as yours is bolted to the underside...maybe that may be the key.
Also my wiring is hidden by the chrome accutronix speedo bracket that is bolted between the headlight bracket and the handle bar clamp. Having a closed look this morning, the wiring is hidden from view between the 2 components.
(not intentional...just happened that way which work out okay)
let me know if you want me to post some other pics showing the set up
Thanks... I see what you mean.
Also it seems your risers are taller allowing the speedo bracket installation. Your setup is tops!.
I might paint the headlight bracket black and just tidy up the wiring.
Thanks Dave
glad you like it, rasing the bracket from beneath tree to on top of tree may help as well.
let me know how you go
Relocated my speedo to the side and the headlight cowl removal is next. Will make my own but seeking you guys thoughts on steel vs. aluminium?
I used 6mm aluminium.
its easier to work with and paints up well too.
i hand shaped my bracket so filing the aluminium was really easy.
I clamped the bracket in the vice and a pair of multi grips and using a pipe extension, simply bent it to suit the required angle.
I was trying to bend it to about 11 degrees, but can't really tell you how far I ended up....I just kept going until it looked about right. Then hand sanded any vice teeth marks out of the aluminium, using steel wool last of all to smooth it out before painting.
no vibration at all, I used locktite on the bolts.
glad you like it,
let me know if you need any other details.
