im looking for someone around the wagga area whos willing too work on my 74 sporty. would like too find some kind of early harley guru haha few places ive contacted are either willing too look at it but dont have the knowledge or have simply said we dont wanna touch old stuff. theres nothing wrong with the bike (as far as i know) but woud like someone that knows there stuff too look at it and if there are any problems get it sorted before i start riding it..

If it was me I'd grab a manual, do a good service on it, then go over the bike myself - start with safety issues (brakes lights cracks in frame etc) and then make sure every thing's tight that should be tight. Another other issues you'll notice when you ride.

everything is tight and good etc im just super fussy when it comes too things being right haha its more of a peace of mind kind of thing..

i could help but i'am in Sydney but could help on here thats what this spot is all about,  + XLnet.com   has & early sporty section, i have a lot of knowlege on this model & have a 1974 model + a 1961 sporty  +  2 XLCR 1000 + 2  XR1000,   any help on here is for free, if you own & older bike you will have too get the spanners out it's all part of having a good old bike as a lot of shops just do not have the time & patients                                                                         

yeah i've found xlnet too be extremely helpful.. thanks for the offer for help, much appreciated.. i'm keen too do things myself and willing too learn, just wouldn't mind someone too show the ropes kind of thing.. im learning more everyday and looking forward too finding out my bikes 'personality' so to speak haha

 don't worry the old sporty will keep you honest  , they have there own personality, they are a good bike  its just a lot of them have been thru a lot of owners that just pass them on  & they can get a bad rap, but if you need any help just ask i have own & raced  sportys since 1980
