I liken it to posting your missus all over the net, you wouldn't do that but she can go out in public for all the world to see.......same same, each to his own I say.

When I was involved in modded 4wds it was so that vicroads wouldn't know where the modded (and unroadworthy) 4wds were garaged......

In this day and age tards only need to troll forums and put two and two together, work out where you live then rob you. Rego plates, home photos with home number, identifying landmarks can all lead to someone tracking you down especially if someone is looking to nick a motorbike just like the one you just showed the world a photo of.

I think it was a good question to ask Will. What is dumb to some is quite resonable to others. It's good to hear all the different reasons and aspects come out, as some people would not have considered a certain response, untill it became apparent from you asking the question. What is apparent however, is the fact that what is resonable to you, is different from me and different from the next bloke all sharing their ideas on this forum, so others can be informed from the question asked. Does that make sense?

I agree with the above. Once you post it on the net, it's harvested forever. I don't want to give anyone any extra help if they are seeking it! :)

Nope! Cause once it's sold, it's someone else's. I don't plan on selling mine, so I would prefer not to slang my plate all over the net. Just my way. :)

My humble opinion is that the the net is a very scary place given all the personal information it has on anybody that uses it. If collected and collated it could give someone an amazing amount of info on anybody they wanted to track ( Mr policeman and big brother + the taxman ) all can use this info to fuck you good.
Mr criminal could look on here and see, Oh look scooter tramp and tankslapper are taking their bikes and wives to the back of buggery this weekend and look theres a good pic of both their bikes, mmm rego numbers = name & address nice bikes= money lets pay them a visit, .... When was the last time you paid for something online ?? ( yep this website has thet little padlock on it it's all good and safe ) Someone has your credit card details now... Mr sleazy falls into that 5% of internet users that I am paranoid about, So why give him anything to make it easier. Just my 2 bobs worth but i try to be carefull of what i put online anywhere.

    +1 for that mate.

I had a mate of mine who would put a message on his answering machine something like... "Hi, we are away on holidays until the end of the month, leave a message and we will get back to you" I asked him if he thought that contributed to the break in and theft of half his shit!!

like others have mentioned , i would have thought that it is far easier to identify bike locations through ebay than a photo on a forum ... better yet , join any number of social clubs to scope out the bikes ...

being paranoid about number plate id on the net is giving thieves far too much credit .

I have heard that they get the redgo number of the vehicle and other info assosiated with the rego and sell your vehicle for you. so one day a dude comes around to pick up your bike or car because a arsehole on the web has sold it under your nose. the dude thats done the bank transfer is pissed because he's lost his hard earned and you won't give your bike or car up.

one of the scams I have heard of from rego's on the interenet
