After reading about a fello WA member that has revieved his new Yellow Sticker recently, I got to reading the attached,

Some interesting reading/wording. I'm wondering if they (Fun Police) are accredited to actualy carry out these test. Got your attention?

    Read on them.

    Taken from here

I really like the first paragraph,

"Any company or organisation throughout Western Australia, with extensive experience or

engineering knowledge in noise level assessment "

I wonder where our WA Funny's fit in here??  and to top it off, we have this little ditty as well..

"The extent of experience/knowledge that they have in performing the measurements

    required."

Makes for some interseting reading. I'm wondering if we have a LAW unto their own on this? Love to here what your state or teritory has to say...

And in the NTC official test procedure.

    http://www.ntc.gov.au/filemedia/Reports/NatStatExhaustNoiseTestSept2006.pdf

The sound level meter shall be calibrated against an acoustic calibrator immediately

before and after each series of tests of each vehicle tested. If the meter readings

obtained from these calibrations differ by more than ldB(A) the test shall be

    considered invalid

So how do the Police carry out this test?

And i might have to remember to ask them for this (Below). I'll bet they cant produce half of the required information and or instructions on the test itself....

There are several companies around that have this accreditation. They usually service the construction, marine, transport and plant manufacturers, like large gen set builders etc. A couple of acoustic suppliers also have it for when you supply an acoustic package to a manufacturer. You have to underwrite the spec and warrant it. It covers drive by, stationary and other noise attenuation criteria. I used to supply acoustic foams and laminates to the industry and had to do a certified course on acoustics as part of the job description. Bloody glad I'm retired these days...they're all getting a bit too anal about it, along with WHOS...
