Since so many cops ride Harleys (off duty) and I've never seen one with a stock exhaust this BS law needs to be changed. At the very least the noise level limit needs to be raised above "ant fart"..

Police were good guys and suggested ways to get the noise down.
They said orders came from up top to do this blitz on exhausts so they're not enthused but have to do it.
I think they said their own bikes were at 98dB which is what they're allowing (sticker on my bike says 90) so they're giving some leeway I guess.
I've just wacked on my std mufflers to hopefully get the sticker off.
Better get to know the inspector as I may be seeing him quite often

As a matter of interest, how did they measure the noise? Did they have a proper thingo (very technical term) or was it done via an app on their iPhone..?

yer ive seen the blue nights getting around .they still have load pipes . maybe you have to be a cop to have load pipes.might see if the wife can make me a police uniform on her sowing machine for the next time i go for a ride.

I'd heard that tests done over concrete or bitumen would give false results due to reverberation, any test should be done on the grass verge or similar. Any thoughts on this ?

Last Saturday I fired up my Road King, gave her a rev only to find the steel wool affle wrap shooting out of my Pro Pipe like Priscilla Queen of the Desert every time I kept the revs on. Now she is loud. I reckon I will be joining your esteemed club fairly soon!
