Popping on Decel

My 2011 Fatbob pops alot on decel, I have Rush slipons (1.75in) K&N free flow filter and fitted with XIEDs to richen it up.  Do I require a tuner?  I am happy with the way the bike runs, just want to get rid of the popping.

Your map is stock, your VE tables are stock, your VE tables are allowing for a stock air intake and exit.

You have increased both your intake and exit and richened your map by 5 points.

It's not enough to account for the dynamics you have changed.

If you don't want to spend any real money on it, get some small mutes or baffles added, just to give it just a little bit more backpressure. That should help with the popping on decel. A little ball of tightly rolled up chicken wire stuck up the spout will tell if it's going to do anything.  If it doesn't look like fixing it, spend ya cash on a basic tuner, if you're not going to do anything else to the donk. If ya planning big changes in the future get a TTS or similar.   It really is a simple fix.

If its popping you are running too lean and risk doing damage. Get it tuned!

Lean condition causing decel pop,,,,,,,,,,, fuck burning out an exhaust valve,,,,,,,,,,,, if it pops it is not turned right or sucking air somewhere causing a lean condition

I know popping on decel = lean...Can someone tell me what actually causes it??? It may be obvious to some but not too me...

I get little poping sounds on mine when rolling down a hill, at what stage is popping considered a problem.
Just comparing the popping to a couple of cars I've had in the past with sports mufflers and tuned extracters they have always popped on decel......even after been dynoed.........

    Allde,

It depends on a lot of things. Is it a gurgle or a serious number of loud popping?? It also depends on what pipes you are running etc.

It's an indication of how the bike is tuned, but not the only way to tell. Another is to check the plug colour!

Bottom line is though, you may never remove the popping altogether, and I would be more concerned about getting the tune right, regardless of the sound out the back.

Thanks for the reply Mongrel, Your right tuning is very important to engine longivity, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a Fuel Auto Tuner, was runing the SERT, only problem with that is you still have to get the bike tuned. Dyno tunes are'nt cheap so I thought might as well get her to tune herself............Also allows me to change baffles whenever I want........

Yeah sweet. I have no experience with the Fuel Auto - I use the TTS. Let us know how it goes mate. :)
