OK, I've introduced myself, read 1000 forum pages and have finally got my first Harley......I worked it out, I've been trying to buy one for the past 22 years.  Well on Saturday I finaly fulfiled this dream.

I am now the proud owner of a 2010 883 Iron, with approx $5,500 worth of mods.

Now all you blokes have 6 million opinions about what you can do and can't do, but noone, from what I've seen has expressed how AWESOME it is to ride/own your first Harley!!!!!!

I picked up the bike on the mid north coast Saturday around 1pm, after a few main street passes I put the bike away for the night (mainly cause I didn't get my blacks until midnight that night). Then out for a few quiet bevvies........

On Sunday I had the mamoth task of getting this dream from Taree to the Hawkesbury......in the pouring rain.

Long story short, after some stressful first steps, I got the prize home and enjoyed every miserabel rain soaked minute of it.

I'd also like to thank Dean (former owner) for making it a smooth transaction and after sales service......from a private sale!!!!

Photos and mods list to come.

    Cheers Monthie

It's hard not to smile every time you get on your bike, it seems like it'll never stop..... until you get that first bug in the mouth....then you just smile on the inside!!

Good post New Kid, a nice reminder of a ride that I dont think anyone ever forgets...that first ride.

Shitting yaself as you pull out into 4 lanes of traffic on enough money for a good deposit on a house. Hahahaha.

Dippin the pegs, pipes or frame into a corner and hearin that sound that you soon learn to enjoy.

The stupid grin ya get on ya face cos some chick smiles as you ride past or a bunch of kids are wavin out the back of mums car.

Not to mention the people jumping in the street as you fire it up.

Enjoy your ride mate. Thousands of bugs in ya teeth to ya!!

PS bike looks awesome, love those pipes!

    Great post New Kid!

Very similar experience picking up my first Harley back in 1995 (FXD) after a 3 month wait from putting down deposit, riding home from Melbourne to Horsham at night, 3 hours, middle of July in pouring rain freezing cold, hypothermia, inadequate wet weather gear and a bloody minded determination to get it home! Never forget it.

    Got good waterproofs these days.....lol
