Buy either the Hammer or NRHS 1250 kit $700. Buy animall's stock 883 heads from his Iron & send them away to get massaged $550-$850 while you still ride yr bike, or just send yr own & wait. Get heads back, add 1250 kit & some cams $300. 1250 kit with head-work & cams should get you between 85-100hp depending on how much you spend & like T1 said you'll be surprised how affordable it is.

From everything I've read you can't go wrong with the 1250.

I went with the se 1200 kit for the main reason because the bike is new and if dealer fitted its covered by Harley warranty . Won't get that with other kits

The kit was $1500 they fitted it and suppied the pipes and tuner and setup $4000 the lot and as I said before all covered by hd warranty . But if your bike is out of warranty I would go for 1250 , cams and head work and put it together your self . If interested I still have the 883 heads and cylinders for sale, hope this helps

Hmm. I've already got a stage 1 kit (tuner, heavy breather, SE slip ons), so I'm thinking it should cost a bit less than $4k. Still, that's steep! How does the 1200 go?

The 1200 goes good , I'm more than happy with it , will your dealer give you hd warranty on the special kit ?? $4000 may sound a lot but the kit , short shots and pro tuner came to $2700 on their own so only $1300 for labour , I thought that was good . And the hole package bike kit tuning parts plus a dual seat and back rest still came in less than a stock 1200 would have cost me

This business about warranty isn't really a big ticket item, you only lose out on the pieces you have changed and if the NRHS/Hammer Kit is installed by a professional not a back yard hack than you should have no problems.

I chose to put the NRHS kit in about 9 months after buying my Iron, I did a significant amount of research spoke to NRHS countless times and a few other providers before I made my decision (including the indy who did the installation). I did cams, SERT, pipes and air cleaner all installed by an indy and didn't cost me anywhere near $4 and the bike goes like a rocket. I have to admit though when I did the changes you could still by parts from the USA and the AUSD was trading about $1.10 so it dramatically reduced the overall price.

In my opinion, Hammer and NRHS may be one in the same. Coincidentally 'Dan' runs and owns Hammer and is their rider and 'Dan' was previously the key contact at NRHS and was also their pro-rider.........................just saying...................If you have a good look at the website as well their exactly the same kits, same cylinders, same pistons and same stories that are on the NRHS website??

Back on topic, the 1250 kit is brilliant, I have done about 6k on it so far (haven't been riding a great deal lately) and haven't had any issues. The bike runs well, goes hard and is continuing to perform like the day I bought her.............just a lot faster!!

even if you go with the kit with heads to be a stock 1200 race tuned cleaner pipes my girls nightster puts out 77 bhp at the rear wheels as much as my 96ci did but you'll be quicker as the gearing of an 883 is diferent but wont have the top end of a 1200
