K & N Fiter Kit

    Can I just fit a filter kit to my bike without installing a tuner ? Looking at K & N 3931 filter kit for 2012 Superglide.

     In my own personal experience, I thought that was the case also gents. I had a 09 muscle with V & H performance slip ons and i also fitted a K & N free flow air filter.

    I went to the local H-D shop for a sevice and to have the SERT fitted, but only if neccessary. I asked them to test the bike with the gas analyser up the pipes and the readings were in spec so i didn't need the SERT after all.

    What a big surprise i got. The shop COULD have lied to make an uneccessary sale but the fact is they were honest and said i didn't need it. It ran fine all the time, no back fires, not lean, just right.

    So just maybe the more correct answer could include, not normally, but..........yes, and only if you have it tested to make sure its not running too lean or hot. Hope this helps

    Thanks fellas , spoke to a tuning bloke , and he advised to install air cleaner only with other mods , cams , headwork etc.The filter on it,s own will not deliver the advertised performance , so will save the pennies . Reckons stock air cleaners have come a long way over the years .
