Shed fire destroys bikes in Whyalla Norrie
Police have located a hydroponic cannabis crop growing inside a shed at Whyalla Norrie, after initially attending as a result of a large fire.

At about 6.30 am yesterday, Whyalla police attended the scene of a domestic shed fire in the rear of a yard on Gilfillan Street.

As a result of the fire the shed and contents, including a number of Harley Davidson motorcycles, were completely destroyed. The total cost of the damage is believed to exceed $190,000.

Investigations are continuing regarding the cause of the fire.

The occupant of the premises, who is a known member of the Red Devils motorcycle gang, was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis and possessing prescribed equipment. He was granted bail and will appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police want to remind the public that the growing of cannabis is not only illegal but also poses as a real danger, particularly when being grown hydroponically.

This story makes me sick! I know this family I live close to them! The media have really had a field day with this one!
There was not a drug farm in there yard! And everything was insured and will be covered so cheers to the dickhead's on here who think they have any idea! You all have been fooled by the bullshit media web, that thanks to people like use will always continue to be spun! This has only been made to sound bad because he was in a Club.

But yes they did lose all those bikes and a lot of other valuable things! So show some fucking RESPECT you rude pricks! As a harley admirer myself I was devastated to hear for there loss.

The shed fire was confirmed to be started by a power cord in the front on the shed not even connected to this so called "farm" funny how the media hasn't done a write up about that...

Because a particular family member has asked me not to. They don't want anymore media attention.

I just feel so upset and angered by this because once again the media has printed absolute crap! But it's ok because I believe the truth always finds a way to the surface!

Don't think it matters one little bit , if they were insured or not ,,, IF and thats a IF  , tHEY WERE GROWING , I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY will not HONOR THE INSURANCE IF THE BIKES  WERE IN THE GROW SHED ..

But like i said thats iIF  it was a grow shed that went up in flames , and it don't matter if there was one plant or 100 ,, Its a bit like riding your bike  with no rego , bald tyres and pissed off your head, while testing positive for a bit of charlie .. Then i think you have cancelled out your own insurance.

power chord fault had nothing to do with "the other end" of the shed, as PicklePie said

and as he said, media made a ham from a trotter

Not the way a insurance company will see it ,, ITS THERE READY MADE EXCUSE , Said power cord would'nt fail if it was'nt overloaded by hydro's ,, Only playing devils advacate here .

But then again if it was a media beat up and they were NOT growing , they have nothing to worry about , and the press are a bunch of lying cunts , which i'm sure theres a defimation case lying about somewhere close .

Either way i hope it works out for them .

Don't get in a pickle there Pete. The article does not say the grow room caused the fire, just speculation on the writers behalf it may have contributed.

It was however reported "The man was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis and possessing prescribed equipment. He was granted bail and will appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court at a later date."

    So someone is spinning shyt.

Hey grew up in whyalla, for 27 or so years....great town, based on a steel industry background...sydney based now..and ride a victory hammer 8 ball...

town was a great learning ground in many ways...and weed in the regional areas was a way of life..through the teenager days....

would be dissapointed if the bikes were not covered in the insurance deal..sheds are a reasonable size ..but i suppose the growing weed and bikes in the same shed wont work....

plenty of places in whyalla to store bikes..and more places to grow weed..

just my two bobs worth..from an Eyre high decendant...

    regards all

    Derek
