No, not Sturgis , but I did go to Daytona Bikeweek last March 2011 and organised all of that myself. So it can be done.

A half million motorcycles in and around Daytona it was reckoned over the course of that week. Mostly Harleys

What a blast. All the hire bikes were booked out for 6 months out from the Bikeweek so we got the public bus around Daytona

Made a big trip of it over 24 days or so. Booked some accomodation before we left Perth, Daytona particularly.

Some places we just "winged it" and always worked out OK.

    Perth/NZ/LA/Atlanta GA/Daytona Florida/Milwaukee(HD Museum)/Las Vegas/ LA /NZ/home to Perth

It was +20C in Florida by day and -14C in Milwaukee at night...Lake Michigan was frozen for 100 metres out from the shore

Went out carry on baggage only, came back over the check-in luggage limit with Harley parts +++

Me and one mate, sharing a 2 bedded room all the way. Cuts costs right down. Internal US flights are cheap compared to Australia !!

We stayed in Las Vegas 5.5 star in the Venetian for $80 Australian per night ( that's $40 each FFsake !!)

    Yep

Did it with these guys in 2011

    http://www.eliteset.com.au/

Brilliant and nice people who make sure you are happy and enjoying yourselves. If you want to live a month out of a backpack fine but elite have a van following to carry your suitcase and anything you buy along the way. There's a luggage van plus another van (if your hung over or missus doesn't want to ride) with a spare bike on a trailer incase of breakdowns. Also there is a lead rider to take you on the less travelled roads. Nick ,Russell and John are great guys. Take the end of ride option tour to the Harley Museum in Milwaulkee you'll love it.

We will be doing something with them in 2014.

Ask for John and tell him Chris from 2011 recommended you

Hi DC , was there 3 weeks ago , what a blast ,i went with rellies from Minnesota who just happened to have a spare bike ( 2002 Dyna ) , we traveled down with bikes on enclosed trailer and used that as a large camper van , stayed at Bear Butte camp round about 5miles out of town , just rolled up and booked in ,all facillities including showers ,toilets ,canteen for all meals and a shop ,bar in a barn with stage outside for nightly bands , if you can find a hire bike or beg buy or borrow one , go but be warned it is very comercialised , put out feelers on the web and try to hook up with people who know their way around the place . an organised tour might be one way .just keep researching.
