I ride every day to work, rain hail or shine. Over the years I have collected way to many jackets to try in the rain and all but one have been complete failures.
Dryriders and all but usless as I found out. The only one that doesn't leak is a rather thin RJays rain jacket. Only thing is it gets fucking hot because it has no breathing areas at all. But it is DRY, folds up small enough to carry in the back pack no problem.
Rain pants have never had a pair yet that dont leak in the crutch.

at $348 jacket and $165 jeans they would want to work. not really the sort of stuff you would carry just incase of rain, which is my main need. different story if it's pissing down when i am leaving though

I have Motodry pants and jacket that i wear when the wet weather comes to visit in Victoria, which is fairly often this year. They were well priced too, the R-2 pants about $150 and the jacket was $140 a few years earlier.  I've had the jacket 5 years and the pants 3.
