Hi folks, am interested in why you've chosen a Dyna over the other models available from HD.

For me, it was about having something different.  I knew I wanted to do a mild custom makeover, but didnt want to add to the zillion of Softtails that were already out there.  So, Dyna it was.

Only down side has been that the range of custom parts for Dyna's is a bit less than those available for S/T's, but that just means I have to be a bit more creative

I went for the Superglide Sport as it had the adjustable suspension with twin front discs with a better lean angle than the standard dyna. I've had a few ride with softails, and they cannot get near me in corners.
I've also surprised a few sports bike riders on how well it goes. The only thing that I look for when updating my bike is that chrome will not help you to go faster.
Pity the factory is no longer making them.

went the Street Bob for price, looks, handling. It is possibly the best bike for dollars. Just need to do some mods to improve the handling so i can throw her around even more. I keep up with many rices around the streets and had a ball around AHG. Selected the colour because of the more retro look.

dont get me wrong i loved my softie a lot , but to be honest they do handle like crap, i changed lots of things and the suspention but i think ull never get ride of the wollowing in the corners and the tracking problems i rode a mates 04wg for 200 ks and knew then  a dyna was my next bike,  i also liked the idea of being able to play on a  dyna a lot more than i could ever play on my softail , in saying that ull never get a better look than a softy in my opinion

I saw a  06 Streetbob in newspaper review, it had a few mods and I took one look and I knew I wanted one, it was a bonus being cheaper than others, IMO it's the sexiest Harley out there, a picture says a thousand words:

Once you have owned a Dyna you don't enjoy a softy any where near as much for a number of reasons-

    1)  Dyna handles alot better than a soft tail because of the out board shocks ( doesn't wallow in the corners)

    2) Less vibration from rubber mounted engine

    3) If you want to increase performance then the un balanced rubber mount motor can rev higher than the balanced "A" motor. (my 2000 95cube reved to 7200 rpm)

I chose a Dyna for several reasons: had owned a Sporty, and the Dyna seemed like the logical next step up. I almost bought an 05 FXST (love those ducktail rears!) but decided the stretched out riding position / handling didn't feel comfy. Also, the price! Even 2nd hand, the Softail was several thousand more than the Dyna, so I figured I'd still have a TC Harley with plenty of change to spend on mods.

    No regrets so far!

I spoke at length to the harley dealer when searching for my first harley after a string of Jap and Brit bikes.

I worked out that the suspension on the softail is a compromise to keep the look so the dyna handles better. Also, the dyna has a rubber-mount engine and the softail hardmount engine. To get past this the softail has engine balancers built in to reduce vibration. This reduces the power of the softail.

SOOO, the dyna has more power, handles better, and is significantly cheaper. No contest for me.

I went the superglide custom because it has better chrome, I like the tank speedo, and the two up seat standard.

My first harley is a 2008 FXDC and I LOVE it. :)
