remove and install battery 2010 fxst

    hi everyone i'm new to hd forums,can anyone help me out i own a 2010 softail standard and the battery is getting a bit sad in it so i want to replace it with gel battery,what i want to know is can i charge the battery in the bike with the battery still hooked up,2 if i have to pull the battery out of the bike do i have to do it step by step and can anyone out there give me a step by step run down from removal of the battery to installing the battery back into the bike,i hear that there is a few steps to do with these e.f.i harleys
