Greg Hirsts radio show 'Ride' at 10pm on 90.5FM in Sydney or   www.alive905.com  on the internet on thursday night  21/6.. (check local time zones)

has an interview with former NSW DPP Nicolas Cowdery on the topic of the so-called 'Biker Laws' in Qld.  This guy is one of the most knowledgeable

lawmen in the nation, and his insight to the dangers of the current trends regarding lawmaking is very informative, and for most of us, important.

Another good interview from Greg Hirst, Nicolas Cowdery certainly makes a lot of sense.

It's such a pity that mainstream TV doesnt look at his concerns and give the public a chance to form

an opinion based on ALL the views not just the Pollies and Cops 'spin'....his word, not mine.

I like his recommendation to the concerned public to make Pollies answerable for their policies,

Ring them, email them, visit their offices with these concerns.....They are after all, OUR representatives..!

What I found suprising from such a high ranking lawman is that he didnt seem to think these laws had ANY

value in ordinary criminal law, he believes the laws we already have are more than adequate. He doesnt

even really seem to think they are absolutely necessary to deter terrorism..especially in a country that doesnt

have a terrorism problem of any major significance.

What I took from that interview is that over the top anti-terrorism laws have provided the template for ambitious

politicians to 'spin' into ordinary law to appear to be solving a problem that existing law is doing just fine against.?

The entrapment of innocent associates is almost guaranteed as collateral damage in this law and order auction....

And as Nicolas states adamantly, Crime will always exist..there is no magic cure...but the harm done to our civil liberties is the biggest casualty..

And thats the only casualty we can control.
