My 2012 Street Bob, with about 2500 km's, started to make a really nasty rattling noise when I started it. I thought it was from the exhaust somewhere and couldn't locate a loose bolt etc...
I dropped into Harley Heaven to get it checked out... Ooops - a crack about 3 mm wide, just near the active exhaust valve, the whole way around the diameter of the pipe has appeared!
Wonder how many more faulty exhausts are out there?
if you have a look at the first picture at the weld spatter on the exhaust valve housing it looks like its been welded/repaired before? shorley there quality control is better than that lol and that probabaly explains the discoluration/blueing of the pipe in that area.
well heres the story just got my bike back (after a 6 week wait ) it happen with only 1100km bike was 2 weeks old , they will say it will take 3 weeks to repair BULLSHIT ,not to any fault of shop it was in just harley paper work is so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i was about to bight the bullet and go aftermarket just to fix the issue but thought y should i , but the wait killed me so was happy when i got it back ,i shore hope it dont happen again !!!!!!!!
(so it has happen a few times and is always in the same spot must be a issue with that weld around that silly valve) bad design
and sry to say melbourne hd factory dont store that part u will have to wait as i did to recieve it
How about saying you'll put up with an after market exhaust eg Vance and Hines, until your new one arrives.
Seems fair to me.......
Cracked the exhaust on my 2012 fxdb in the same place with about the same kays.
Pretty poor considering the kays.
Ended up fitting v and h pipes anyway, even then was a drama due to o2 sensor sizes
awsome glad to see u got it faster then me they must be taking 1 off a showroom bike , i had the same offer but no bike was around at the time
Not good i say, the other dissapointment is the fact that a near new model/models that are still being sold to this day, and HD aust doesn't have any replacement exhausts to call on at a moments notice for warranty work! WTF is that about. Is it true that when a new model is sold in a country there is supposed to be a quantity of spares just in case of crash damage or warranty work, let alone if joe bloggs wants to buy one cause he scratched his.
Is this correct? Can anyone shed some more light on this theory? I think its very poor but i hope i'm wrong.
With the amount of cracked exhausts just here on the one thread leads me to think this should be worthy of a factory recall. Whats going on in other countries?
