Hi all .... didnt get any takers on my last post about wether anybody knew if it was possible to fit a 180 tyre into a standard 99 Softail with a change back to a chain , pity as i am real curious .

Maybe i might have a better chance of someone knowing if the width of 99 Softail at the rear before the swingarm bolts on is the same as a 06 to present Softail as this would solve the problem of a guard fitting over the 180 tyre if it were to fit into the standard swingarm with a chain conversion .

I reckon there has to be some pretty clued up people on this site so sends me a reply if you have an idear ..... Thanks guys ..... Tim .

Don't have an answer to your question ,but one place to start is the swing arm pivot bolt -both length & diameter ,check the harley part no's.Also the shocks changed in 2000 i think???
i have a deuce which uses a lot of common stuff with a nostalgia,but reckon i can fit a fat boy 200 mm swing arm because pivot bolts are the same on both-u have to be conscious of the engine offset & wheel offset as well-it all looks simple until u start measuring stuff for clearance etc.
