    Hi Tim,
Just thought I would add my 2 bob's worth.
I've had Harley's for about 35 years-a 85 fxrt from new till 2005-great bike-i'd still be riding it ,if it wasn't for an 84 year old lady that T boned me & fucked me & the bike.
After looking at parts availability -early 80's harley are now being classed as vintage or classic -order in parts -some "now longer available"-but nearly everything is available aftermarket.
In the end I went for a 07 deuce-its a bit scarey with all the technology-having grown up on pommie & early harley -fencing wire & foil from a cigarette packet,(don't smoke cigs now -do they still have the silver paper on the inside?)-& electrical tape-a few tools & most of the time you'd get home.
The new bike is a hoot-fucking fast 77hp & 91.46 ft lbs torque-both curves flat as a shit carters hat-only has a vance & hines 2-1 with super trapp caps -its legal 93 db & s&s twin pod air cleaner-starts every time ,idles-very civilized.
Have Donny's book, but you have to be a little careful -I asked Harley Heaven to turn on parade mode when they did the tune (sespt) ,but they said it was a bit dodgey & could turn on at 110 km-so i took they're advice-be guided by the aussie tech of your choice-local knowledge is a beautiful thing.
I went Twinky because also there aren't that many mechanics-younger ones -that know the finer points of the evo's they are over 12 years out of production-I'm at an age where I just want to put the key in & go.
The price difference between a late mid 90's evo & a early 2000 twinkie isn't that much-at the end of the day it's your decision based on what U want from the bike.
    Cheers Wayco

Hey Wayco , great to here from you .... allways appreciate any ones 2 Bob`s worth ..... Bummer to here about the old lady hitting ya , hope you arent having to many hassles health wise because of it ..... it`s getting harder and harder to avoid the bastards these days .

The technolagy thing is the thing i am having the biggest problem with myself ..... i have 32 years riding now , not all on Harley`s though mainly old 750 /4`s and old Zed`s which werent overladen with much computer wizardry thats for sure , Lol .

Had to laugh at your early Harley fencing wire reference as when i did have my old Harley , the one in the pic under my name on the left there , i had a scary at the time but great camp fire story now incident when on my way to visiting a mate out in the bushi was traveling along at not a very great speed when all of a sudden the front end dived on me and just about through me into the great blue yonder .... after getting some colour back into my skin i realised that the front brake calipar bolts had worked there way loose and the calipar mounted in front of the fork leg flew around and would have jammed on the back side of the fork leg if not for the fact that only the very day before i had some braided brake lines fitted and thankfully that was what saved me ..... skid marks on the road werent the only ones that day .

Long story short i actully used fencing wire to hold the calipar in place until i got to my mates place and sourced some appropriate bolts to get me back home as the old Banana rear brack wasnt all that great .

Thanks for the info on Donny`s book , will take that on board ..... your not wrong on there not being much of a price difference on a good late 90`s Evo and even a mid to late model TC .... i`ve got a line on a 2008 WideGlide for 18,000 and looks and sounds great , love the chunky bigger diamiter front forks ..... will most likely be gone by the time my house money comes through but is good to know there are some decent prices out there.

Happy riding Wayco ...... cheers from Tim .

    Thanks Tim,
The little old lady made a fair mess of me -I'm now an above knee amputee, but my bike is featured in the softail pics around page 29-has training wheels ,back brakes left & right side-(thanks to Vic Roads),pingle shifter, twin brembo disk front end with V-Rod front spoked wheel-its all Vass engineer approved-
I had limitations on choice of bike because of the leg up landing gear-they've added heaps more bikes since i got my wheels.-you have to get what your comfortable with-I'm a short arse so I put running boards with relocators to bring them back 1"-& a different seat-now its great comfort wise.
I wouldn't worry too much about missing out on the dyna ,they are like buses there will be another one just around the corner, they handle well,& appear to be a fair bit cheaper than softy's.
Reckon u won't regret a fuel injected Twinkie- don't worry about the technology-if we did we'd all be driving fj Holdens or Cusso's or xy falcon ,gt's,Chev powered holdens-now there are some good memories.
    Enjoy what ever u get.
    Cheers Wayco

Man she didnt miss hey ..... mate you have proberbly heard it all before but bloody good on ya for not giving up on the rideing ..... not sure why but your pics arnt on page 29 anymore , would have been cool to see how you have her set up .

I reckon you are right about not worrying about missing the WideGlide as there are some great deals going these days .

Had to Laugh when you sussgested we would all be driving around in FJ`s or Cusso`s if worried about technolagy to much ..... just this Saturday past i bought myself a 63 / 64 EH Holden , and i thought my 99 Mazda work ute was a rough ride , Lol ..... but i`m rapt , had 4 of them in my youth and while it is no show winner .. { yet , Lol } .. i reckon between the old beast and the new or newish Harley soon the missus might start to worry about ever seeing me again ..... but i reckon i got lucky there as well , she seems to be one of those rare models that supports most things i do .... not all but most , Lol .

Thanks for the converse Wayco ..... cheers Tim .
