I hate the ones that dont just stop working all together

I work on buses and coaches not bikes but out of the way worn wiring is the bane of my life (they do lots of long distance dusty, dirty roads) and I wouldn't be an auto sparky no matter how much money they paid me.

It's good that your sparky found it though!
