Well, truth be known, Given the only choice of a Japo yakasaki, or a 1200 Sportster, I will take the Harley Sporty each & everytime!
It's probably a lost cause trying to be sensible in this thread and to be honest I don't know a huge number of women who ride Harleys but personally I only know... 1 FLD Switchback (no not me before the smart arses chime in) :-P 1 FXDB Street Bob (with short shocks) 1 XL1200C Sportster 1 XL883L Super Low About the only thing the riders have got in common is none of them are more than about 170cm tall.
Yep Jokes aside, sounds sus.
Mrs petebob rides a lowered Slim, prior to that an 08 nightster, that I didnt consider a "girls" bike. Bloody thing went like a cut cat.
Shes also got an 05 T100 Bonneville, and rode Trumpys in her younger days. As did I. I had a 1200c b4 I got Bob.
A lot of women riders in our HOG club, Riding everything from Sportys, super glides, deluxes to ultras. Good on 'em I reckon.
I'd mostly seen Chix on Sporties and Deluxes and I'd guesed it was due to their smaller size - well, a lower seat height when it comes to the 'lux.
In the last coupla years I reckon HD woke up to this and it's maybe why the Mo Co started pumping out 'low' versions of the other models.
Hey Choppa,
Are you turning this into a lowrider bashing session. Girls bike Pahhhhh
I have had one for just under 6 months now and had two trips to QLD, One to Melbourne and another to Dubbo.
I bought the Lowrider as it was the most comfortable, for me, Harley I had ridden.
Coming from Trumpy's, Duc's and Nortons I was always a bit wary of the so called "industrial nature" and size of the Harleys.
The lower seat height and handling of the Lowrider make it a breeze to ride and handles much better than I expected, although I have put progressive springs up front and progressive 430's at rear. I am about 5'9" and have lost it in gravel with a pillion and due to lower height been able to hold it up.
I reckon its a great bike for the step up from a sporty or even a first Harley for anyone but especially those of a shorter stature.
I am also affected by not having had a real drink for over 3 months.
Ride Safe All Nigel
hey there is nothing wrong with sportsters, i think they are friggin awesome bikes
a harley is a harley
even this harley davidson scooter is awesome!!!!!! yeah!! i'd give that scooter rider the thumbs up!!!
For disclosure purposes I gotta say I don't own a Sportie but jeeeez, the poor old Sportie cops some shit or what?
They've been around since when - 1957 I think. F*ck all girl's rode bikes back then so I can't see it was meant for or targeted by the Mo Co for the 'girl market'.
But it's the smallest, the cheapest, the entry level model and that's why it cops shit and gets labelled as a Sheilas bike. It's what we blokes do:
"Ya traded yur Monaro on a f*ckin' MINI??!! Mate, that's a f*ckin' SHEILAS car!! "
But they mod up well; some of the snarliest HD's are well modded Sporties.
I've also got a 600 Ducati. As Dukes go it's only a baby.I don't pretend it's anything other than what it is - a real sporty lookin' 'Baby Duke'. But I like it.
So don't tell me who ta vote for, what music ta listen to OR what f*ckin' bike ta ride. Sporties are cool az!
I hope this topic wasn't ment to stir shit, but for my 2 cents worth, the question was "What Harley are women riding"... Well my woman rides on the back of my Sportster.
